Prescott vs. McCloskey
Maidana: I’m willing to fight McCloskey next
By Scott Gilfoid: WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana congratulated Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KO’s) for beating Colombian Breidis Prescott (24-3, 19 KO’s) by a 12 round decision in their WBA light welterweight title eliminator last weekend in McCloskey’s home country of Ireland.
Maidana says he’s willing to fight McCloskey next, saying on his twitter “Congrats on your win. You know sometimes fighters ourselves don’t decide 100 percent in boxing [about who to fight], but I’m willing to face you with respect.”
How come McCloskey’s fans can’t accept that Prescott won?
By Scott Gilfoid: It’s so sad that Paul McCloskey’s loyal and loving Irish and English fans can’t accept and come to terms with the fact that the better man didn’t win last night. It should have been Breidis Prescott (24-3, 19 KO’s) who walked out of the Odyssey Arena last night with the “W”, not McCloskey with his 12 round unanimous decision.
Prescott’s loss to McCloskey gives Khan an excuse never to fight him again
Khan: Prescott & McCloskey have to beat all the guys I recently defeated before I’ll fight them again
By Scott Gilfoid: I got a big laugh out of Amir Khan’s latest excuse for not fighting a rematch with Breidis Prescott, who knocked Khan out easily in one round a few years ago. Khan is now saying that Prescott has to beat all the fighters that Khan defeated in the past three years before he’ll fight him again. Khan includes McCloskey with the same conditions.
McCloskey: I guarantee you I’ll beat Prescott on Saturday
By William Mackay: Ireland’s Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) is about to face his moment of truth against one of the most powerful punchers in the light welterweight division in Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) on Saturday night, and it’s going to be really tough for McCloskey to survive long once Prescott gets his offense cranked up.
Prescott: I don’t see McCloskey making it past the 6th round. I then want Khan

Prescott ready to fight Khan in December after he destroys McCloskey on Saturday
By William Mackay: Once light welterweight contender Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) has gotten Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) out of the way this Saturday night by destroying him, Prescott says he wants to fight WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) in December if Khan will take the fight.
Prescott vows to take advantage of McCloskey’s many mistakes
By William Mackay: Breidis Prescott sat down recently and watched some of Paul McCloskey’s past fights, and came away with enough knowledge to know that McCloskey makes a ton of mistakes when he fights. Prescott plans on taking advantage of those same mistakes when he fights him this Saturday night in Northern, Ireland.
