After the fight, both men spoke on the matchup and their respective futures at the post fight press conference.

Maidana stated that he felt he won the fight and didn’t understand why the judges would give rounds to a boxer that spends most of his time running around the ring. He admitted however that Floyd is extremely fast and that he plans to continue fighting.

Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Marcos Maidana II: Don’t bite the hand that feeds you

MAYHEM - FIGHT NIGHT-Mayweather vs Maidana-4951(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp/Mayweather Promotions) By Gerardo Granados: It was not clear for me if Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) did bite WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) on his left hand but it was evident that this was not the card of the year by far. Last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada the fight fan got to see another major boxing event, but was it worth it´s price?

Floyd Mayweather Jr controlled the fight and won by unanimous decision but there are boxing analysts who think he has slowed down a bit; maybe it’s true but to me it might have been Marcos Maidana´s awkward boxing style instead of his age the reason why he didn’t looked as dominant as when he fought Canelo Alvarez.

Now is the perfect time for Mayweather to say goodbye

MAYHEM - FIGHT NIGHT-Floyd Mayweather-3836(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp/Mayweather Promotions) By Chester Rivers: Youth, speed, mobility, accuracy and even power were the traits that describe Floyd Mayweather Jr. in October 1996 when he made his pro debut. The hotshot prospect from the famous Mayweather boxing family was a can’t miss prodigy fresh off a bronze medal performance in that year’s summer Olympic Games.

That was nearly 18 years ago. Like everything time has effect on all material and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is no exception. To gauge this span you must realize that babies that were born the year Floyd turned pro are now seniors in high school or freshmen in college. Some may even be soldiers fighting to protect Mayweather’s liberties. Still Mayweather sits atop boxing’s thrown.

Mayweather/Maidana 2: From a Fight Fan’s Perspective

MAYHEM - FIGHT NIGHT-Floyd Mayweather- Post Fight-5520(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp: Mayweather Promotions) By Carlos Rivera: Let me start this rant by first saying, yes, Floyd Mayweather won the fight. He is 47-0 and the judges cards made sense with the fight they were given.

With that said, let me be clear, the fight and the officiating was ridiculous. Also, Floyd should be ashamed of himself with that “bite” nonsense.

The referee was way too involved. He was breaking up clinches before they even happened. When a clench does occur, you allow the fighters to punch out of it of they can. If the fighter has one arm free, you let him punch out of it.

Maidana: I don’t want to waste time on third fight against Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chris Williams: Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) came up empty last night in losing to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) in their Mayhem rematch. Maidana after the fight said he doesn’t want a third fight against Mayweather.

It’s good that Maidana beat Mayweather to the punch, because there’s no way that Mayweather will ever bother fighting Maidana again. At least by Maidana going on record first before Mayweather had a chance to say anything, it helps cushion the blow that Mayweather is moving on and won’t be giving Maidana another chance.

Mayweather hopeful of Pacquiao showdown in May 2015

Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Cameron Gillon: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) defeated Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision victory last Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was a rematch from there May fight earlier this year. The rematch came about after feeling in some fans eyes and certainly Maidana and his camp that they done enough to get the victory. What was very unlike Mayweather, he granted Maidana a rematch despite clearly winning the fight this time round last May. I thought he did this first time but this one was certainly a lot clearer than the first bout.

Khan: I know I can beat Mayweather; I want to fight him in May

MAYHEM - FIGHT NIGHT-Mayweather vs Maidana-5286(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) was in Las Vegas, Nevada last Saturday night to watch WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr’s fight against Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs), and after watching Mayweather beat the tough Argentinian, Khan says Mayweather is slowed down and he wants to fight him.

Khan is hoping that Mayweather will agree to fight him next May, because that’s the only time that Mayweather will be able to fight him in 2015 unless he changes his fight date in September. Khan has Ramadan in September, he says, and the only way Mayweather and him can fight is if he agrees to fight him in May.

Why the Mayweather hate?

Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Bob Smith: Boxing fights can be watched in many ways, but the best way of course is live and with a group of people. For the wealthy among us who have money and time, in person is best. For those who have some money (or perhaps like to think that they do) PPV is a good option.

A lesser but still decent option is to watch the fight in a movie theater if and when it is available. Cheapskates (including your author) opt to watch the fight live at a bar or a casino for free.

Mayweather: “Maidana bit my hand”

Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos MaidanaBy Dan Ambrose: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) is still unbeaten after out-boxing a very determined and some would say desperate to win Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) on Saturday night in defeating him 12 round unanimous decision on the “Mayhem” pay-per-view card on Showtime from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fight had a controversial incident that took place in the 8th round when Mayweather suddenly pulled his left hand back with a look of pain on his face after being bitten by Maidana while holding him in a head-lock. Mayweather immediately said “He bit me.” The referee Kenny Bayless failed to take action though, saying that he didn’t see anything happen.

Floyd Mayweather: “He bit my hand, he bit my fingers. My fingers were numb. My hand was numb. I really couldn’t use my left hand, but I won the best way I know how. We were tangled up in the center of the ring and he bit me. He bit my left hand. I felt sharper in the first fight. This time I felt dry and dead and my fingers were numb after the eighth round.”

The final judges’ scores were 115-112, 116-111, 116-111. Maidana It’s hard to understand what the referee was watching who scored the fight 115-112. It wasn’t that close unless the referee was counting Maidana’s many missed punches as shots that landed.

“He bit my hand and that caused my fingers to be numb. I couldn’t use my hand for a while because my finders were numb,” Mayweather said.”I felt sharper in the first fight. My fingers felt numb after the 8th round. I give my self a C minus. I got hit with some shots I shouldn’t have got hit with. I’m going to go back to my team and assess what my team decides. I don’t know who I’m fighting in May. If a fight against Manny Pacquiao presents itself then it’s possible.”
