Canelo vs. Golovkin analysis by Martin Murray
By Sean Jones: Former 4 time world title challenger Martin Murray is picking Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) to stop Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) in their crucial middleweight fight in 11 days from now on September 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Murray, 34, thinks Canelo has been sly with the way he’s waited until Golovkin hasn’t looked good in his last 2 fights before finally agreeing to fight him.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Martin Murray possible for October
By Scott Gilfoid: Julio Cesar Chavez Sr is tweeting that a fight between his son Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and former 4-time world title challenger Martin Murray is a possibility for October in Las Vegas, Nevada or Texas. Murray (35-4-1, 16 KOs) says he’s game and interested in taking the fight.
Video: Rosado angry, wants Murray rematch
By Scott Gilfoid: Gabriel Rosado (23-11, 13 KOs) was absolutely furious last Saturday night at finding himself on the receiving end of a 12 round majority decision loss to Martin Murray (35-4-1, 16 KOs) in their middleweight fight at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Rosado thought he should have gotten the win, and he let the boxing media know about it afterwards. Rosado says he wants a rematch with the 34-year-old Murray.
Martin Murray defeats Gabriel Rosado by controversial decision
By Scott Gilfoid: Former four time world title challenger Martin Murray (35-4-1, 16 KOs) won a 12 round majority decision victory against former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado (23-11, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. The scoring by 2 of the judges seemed way out of whack to what fight that actually took place tonight.
Martin Murray vs. Gabriel Rosado – Results
By Rob MaClean: In a highly competitive 12 round fight between world title contenders, it was Martin Murray who edged Gabriel Rosado by a majority decision in Liverpool. English judge Terry O’Connor called the fight 114-114, whilst the two Polish judges called the fight 116-112 and 119-109. The 119-109 score should be regarded as an absolute disgrace and had Gabriel Rosado incensed at the final bell, and rightly so.
Video: Murray vs. Rosado; Krasniqi vs. Abraham tonight
By Scott Gilfoid: In separate venues tonight, four-time world title challenger Martin Murray (34-4-1, 16 KOs) faces Gennady Golovkin knockout victim Gabriel Rosado (23-10, 13 KOs) in Liverpool, England, and former 2-division world champion Arthur Abraham (45-5, 30 KOs) squares off against Robin Krasniqi (46-5, 17 KOs) in Germany. It’s a couple of neat fights. I wouldn’t say it’s the best going against the best, but these are good fringe level contenders fighting each other.
Rosado explains why Canelo chose Chavez Jr. instead of GGG
By Dan Ambrose: Gabriel Rosado has his own theory about why Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. next instead of the fighter that the boxing world wants to see him face in Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Rosado says that the sport has changed and it’s now more business oriented with the best fighters no longer facing the best. So instead of Canelo fighting the best fighter in the middleweight division, he’s facing Chavez Jr., whose career hasn’t been the same since his loss to Sergio Martinez in 2012.
Watch: Martin Murray vs. Gabriel Rosado – Official weights
By Scott Gilfoid: Martin Murray (34-4-1, 16 KOs) and Gabriel Rosado (23-10, 13 KOs) both weighed in successfully on Friday in each of them coming in at 159 ¼ pounds in their fight for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental middleweight title this Saturday night on April 22 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Rosado and Murray are going to be taking a trip to the last chance saloon on Saturday, as neither guy can afford to lose. Rosado lost his last fight to Willie Monroe last September in a fairly one-sided defeat.
