Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray almost sold out

martinez452By Allan Fox: WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) will be fighting in front of a packed house when he makes his first defense of his title against Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) on April 27th at the Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to ole.com.ar, there are few tickets left of the 40,000+ tickets that went on sale for the 48,000 seat stadium, and those tickets are likely to go quickly within the next 30 days as the fight draws nearer. That shows you how popular the 38-year-old Martinez has become in his home country of Argentina.

Hatton sees victory for Murray over Sergio Martinez on April 27th

murray5By Allan Fox: Promoter Ricky Hatton believes unbeaten Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) is facing WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) at the right time to pick him off and grab his WBC strap when they face each other in two months on April 27th at the Estadio Jose Amalfitani, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Hatton said to hattonboxing.com “Any great champion has to come to an end at some point. Martinez is 38, plus he’s had a couple of injuries. In his last fight he was hanging on for dear life against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. So it’s come at the right time and the right fight with Martin.”

While the 30-year-old Murray is younger than the soon to be 38-year-old Martinez, Murray is still the underdog in this fight. There are not too many boxing experts picking Murray to win this fight.

Martinez vs. Murray: Martin sees himself shocking fans with an upset

murray92By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBA middleweight contender Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) believes that the 37-year-old WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) is ready to be beaten when they fight on April 27th at the Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Murray, 30 hasn’t tasted defeat as of yet, and he’s got the confidence of someone that hasn’t realized their limits.

Murray said “With me being so much of an underdog it’ll be a shock to a lot of people if I win, but it won’t be a shock to me. This is a fight I feel I can win and we’ll be working on a plan in the next few weeks to work out how to beat Martinez.”

Martinez-Murray: Martin is up against it on April 27th

murray92By Scott Gilfoid: Interim WBA World middleweight champion Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) must be pretty happy right now that he’s been selected to fight the best middleweight in the division on April 27th against WBC 160 pound champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) at the Club Atletic Velez Sarsfield, Distrito Federal, Argentina.

Murray is happy because Martinez is the guy that all the young contenders want to fight, him and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. However, I think Murray’s happiness will soon be replaced with terrible sadness on April 27th when it becomes clear that he doesn’t have the talent to compete in this fight and ends up getting routed by Martinez.

Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray analysis & prediction for April 27th

martinez45By Scott Gilfoid: WBC middleweight Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) appears to have the perfect opponent to fight in his first defense of his WBC title on April 27th in Argentina. The 37-year-old Martinez will be facing Britain’s 30-year-old Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s), a fighter with little real power and a bad tendency to mix it up. Murray has unbeaten record filled with soft 2nd tier opposition.

I couldn’t come up with the more perfect tune-up opponent if I tried for Martinez to get ready for his rematch against former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in September 2013. Murray is a fighter that has spent so much of his career facing fodder in the UK and he’s not been exposed to quality guys like Martinez or even Chavez Jr.

Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray: A good tune-up for Maravilla

martinez2By Scott Gilfoid: WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) has a nice little tune-up bout coming up on April 27th against unbeaten Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) at the Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield, Distrito Federal, Argentina. This is a fight that Martinez is taking to stay busy while he waits on a rematch against former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in September next year at the Cowboys Stadium, in Texas.

That’s the big money fight that Martinez is looking forward to, and it’s disappointing that the fight will have to wait until Chavez Jr. finishes serving out his suspension for testing positive last September.

Martin Murray: I’m better than Sergio Martinez and I’m going to beat him

Sergio Martinez faces Martin Murray on 4/27 in stay busy fight

Image: Sergio Martinez faces Martin Murray on 4/27 in stay busy fightBy Scott Gilfoid: Well it’s now a done deal. WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his title on April 27th against unbeaten British contender Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The venue of the fight has yet to be determined.

While the 30-year-old Murray is ranked high at #1 WBO, #3 WBA, #3 WBC, he’s not going to be able to beat a talent like Martinez, that’s a given. We saw how Murray’s level was exposed in his 12 round draw against former WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm last year in December. Murray fought well enough to get a draw against a past his best Sturm, but let’s not kid ourselves. Had that been Martinez in there with Sturm instead of Murray, Sturm would have been knocked out cold. Martinez would have won convincingly whether by decision or knockout.

Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray on April 27th in Argentina

Image: Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray on April 27th in ArgentinaBy Allan Fox: WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his title on April 27th in Argentina against Britain’s Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO’s) in a still to be determined venue, according to RingTV. This isn’t really much of a surprise because it’s been talked about for a while now Martinez taking a fight against the unbeaten #3 WBC Murray, but now it looks like it’s about to happen.

If Martinez can get past Murray, he will then possibly face former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a rematch on September 14th, provided that Chavez Jr. isn’t serving a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for him having tested positive for marijuana for his loss to Martinez last September.

Martin Murray could face Sergio Martinez on April 27th if he beats Navarro

Image: Martin Murray could face Sergio Martinez on April 27th if he beats NavarroBy Scott Gilfoid: If unbeaten #3 WBC middleweight contender Martin Murray (24-0-1, 10 KO’s) wins his fight this Saturday night against #7 WBA Jorge Navarro (12-0, 10 KO’s) on the Ricky Hatton vs. Vyacheslav Senchenko undercard in Manchester, England, Murray could find himself fighting for a world title against WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez on April 27th in Argentina.

It’s still not a done deal but Murray is looking like the guy that will get the pick because HBO has to bless the fight and it’s unclear whether they’ll say yes to the other alternatives that Martinez’s promoter is looking to match him with. There is Kerry Hope, Jose Miguel Torres and Domenica Spada.
