David Haye: I’ll fight Anthony Joshua next if the public wants it

haye#1By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye’s easy 1st round knockout win over a punching bag-like Mark De Mori (30-2-2, 26 KOs) last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK, seems to have planted ideas into his head, because Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) is now bragging about how he sees himself as the hardest puncher and the fastest heavyweight on earth right now.

Haye also says he would be willing to step inside the ring in his next fight against British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) if the British boxing public wants it. Obviously, they would fancy that fight, but that does not mean it will happen.

David Haye says no heavyweight could handle his power tonight

demori4By Scott Gilfoid: We all knew going into tonight’s fight between former WBA heavyweight champion David “Hayemaker” Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) and #10 WBA Mark De Mori (30-2-2, 26 KOs) that we were going to see a likely mismatch with Haye wiping the deck with the over-matched 33-year-old De Mori, and sure enough that’s exactly what we witnessed.

Haye needed less than a full round to take the Australian De Mori out in the 1st round at the O2 Arena in London, UK. De Mori made the mistake of throwing a slow jab with his back against the ropes. Haye immediately throw a big right hand counter of De Mori’s jab and clocked him.

Haye destroys De Mori in 1st round KO

haye11111By Scott Gilfoid: In what turned out to be a horrible mismatch, former two division world champion David Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) destroyed #10 WBA Mark De Mori (30-2-2, 26 KOs) in the 1st round of Haye’s comeback fight on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, England. The fight was officially stopped by referee Bob Williams at 2:11 of the 1st round.

Haye dropped De Mori after nailing him with two hard right hands to the head followed by a left hook. The fight was then halted as De Mori was too hurt to get back to his feet.

Haye compares De Mori to Deontay Wilder

haye7888By Scott Gilfoid: We could be seeing a big mismatch tonight with former two division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) getting off the couch finally to climb back into the ring to face a hand-picked opponent named Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs). Haye admits that De Mori has not had the experience of fighting guys at his level.

However, Haye for some reason compares De Mori to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in mentioning how Deontay defeated Bermane Stiverne last year. Before that fight, Deontay didn’t have big time experience in the pro ranks against the big names, but he did have an Olympic bronze medal going for him. Deontay had also sparred with many good fighters like Wladimir Klitschko and Malik Scott, so it wasn’t like he was totally green fighter like Haye makes him out to be.

“Granted, he hasn’t fought anyone on my level but that can be misleading,” Haye said to ringtv.com. “Remember, Deontay Wilder hadn’t fought anyone until he won the WBC title from Bermane Stiverne…so this is his big shot against a former champion.”
