Wach: Chisora defeats Tyson Fury

chisora5645By Scott Gilfoid: For what it’s worth, 6’8” former world title challenger turned sparring partner Mariusz Wach is picking #1 WBO, #3 IBF, #12 WBA Dereck Chisora (20-4, 13 KO’s) to defeat #4 WBO, #7 IBF, #10 WBC, #14 WBA Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) in their rematch next month on July 26th at the Phones 4u Arena, in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Wach just got with Chisora yesterday, so it’s kind of hard to understand how he can form any kind of opinion on the Chisora-Fury rematch.

Wach, 34, hasn’t fought since losing to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko two years ago by a 12 round unanimous decision.

Wach tests positive for steroids, says Klitschko manager

Image: Wach tests positive for steroids, says Klitschko managerBy Jim Dower: Polish heavyweight fringe contender Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KO’s) has allegedly tested positive for steroids from his last fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko from last month in Hamburg, Germany. Bernd Bönte said that he was told by the President of the Federation of German Professional Boxing Association (BDB), Thomas Putz about Wach’s positive drug test, according to German news site Bild.de. Wach is reportedly denying being guilty of using drugs, and he and his management will likely be asking for the sample B to undergo tests so that he can be cleared the positive test results.

Wach wasn’t that bad against Wladimir

Image: Wach wasn't that bad against WladimirBy Jason Kim: Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KO’s) may have lost by a wide margin in losing to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KO’s) by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 120-107, 120-107 and 119-119-109 last Saturday night in Hamburg, Germany, but compared to many of the recent heavyweights that have challenged the 6’6″ Wladimir and lost, Wach looked pretty good.

To be sure, Wach got dominated and he took a beating in the fight, especially in the last five rounds. But one got a sense that Wach had the potential of ending the fight at any time if were able to land his big right hand. Wach did connect with a powerful right hand in the 5th and it seemed to hurt Wladimir because he immediately grabbed Wach in a clinch.

Wach survives against Klitschko

Image: Wach survives against KlitschkoBy John F. McKenna (McJack): Previously unbeaten Polish contender Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KO’s) surprisingly survived twelve rounds against WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO and Ring heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 51 KO’s) Saturday night in Hamburg, Germany. If nothing else the “Viking” as Wach is known to his fans, demonstrated that his lantern jaw is made of granite. Maruisz withstood not only all of Wladimir’s powerful left jabs, but numerous right hand hammer shots and left hooks as well.

Mariusz did catch “Dr. Steelhammer” with his vaunted right hand near the end of the 5th round that appeared to momentarily rock him, but he was not able to capitalize on it. In the 6th round Klitschko resumed his relentless attack once more. In the 8th round Wladimir fired off an assortment of unanswered lefts and rights and for a time it appeared that the fight would ultimately have to be stopped.

Wach: This was the hardest fight I’ve ever had

Image: Wach: This was the hardest fight I've ever hadBy Dan Ambrose: Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KO’s) has nothing to show for his fight last night against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KO’s) other than a face full of bruises and a nice payday in his 12 round decision loss. It was one big thumping from start to finish as the 32-year-old Wach didn’t have the tools needed to win the fight.

Wach spent most of the fight being on the receiving end of Wladimir’s pile driving jabs and solid right hands. The fight hands would have knocked out an average fighter but against the steel-chinned Wach, they had little affect.

Wladimir surprised that Wach could take so much punishment

Image: Wladimir surprised that Wach could take so much punishmentBy Eric Thomas: 6’7 1/2″ Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KO’s) is probably feeling pretty bad physically and mentally today after taking a terrible beating from IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KO’s) in losing by a 12 round unanimous decision in a fight that was more of an organized whipping than actual fight at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Wach took a terrifying amount of punishment in the 8th round alone, getting hit with 44 head shots from Wladimir in that one round. To Wach’s credit, he stayed on his feet but it might have been better had he taken a knee and bowed out of the fight or had his trainer throw in the white towel of surrender.

Wach with a puncher’s chance of beating Wladimir tonight

Image: Wach with a puncher's chance of beating Wladimir tonight(Picture Credit: michaelsterlingeaton.com) By Jason Kim: The 6’7 1/2″ Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) goes into tonight’s fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 50 KO’s) has a huge underdog in their fight at the O2 World Arena, Altona, in Hamburg, Germany. But Wach has more than enough power to pull off an upset if he doesn’t make the same mistake as Wladimir’s last two opponents did by fighting too cautiously and giving him too much respect.

That’s not how you beat the 6’6″ Wladimir. If you look at Wladimir’s three prior losses on his resume it’s always been a case of his opponents – Ross Puritty, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster – fighting with aggression and taking the fight to him. They got Wladimir’s respect early on and then were able to land big shots to take him out. Wach, 32, has to set the tone for the fight early on in the 1st round to make Wladimir understand that he’s in a fight and not just beating up on a frightened opponent.

Weights: Wladimir 246.92, Wach 249.12

Image: Weights: Wladimir 246.92, Wach 249.12(Picture Credit: michaelsterlingeaton.com) By Jim Dower: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 50 KO’s) weighed in today for his bout with unbeaten 6’7 1/2′ Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) for their bout on Saturday night at the O2 World Arena, Altona, in Hamburg, Germany. Wladimir weighed in at 246.92 pounds, which about what he normally weighs for his fight. Wach, 32, came in at 249.12 lbs. That’s also about the normal weight for him as well.

This fight has attracted a lot of interest despite the fact that it appears to be a huge mismatch on paper. Perhaps the reason why so many boxing fans are interested in seeing the Wach-Klitschko fight is because of the huge size of Wach and because he’s a big puncher with knockout power in his right hand.

Klitschko faces Wach this Saturday night on 11/10

Image: Klitschko faces Wach this Saturday night on 11/10By Jason Kim: This Saturday night IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 50 KO’s) steps inside the ring to face one of the bigger punchers in his career against the huge 6’7 1/2″ Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) at the O2 World Arena, in Hamburg, Germany. Wladimir, 36, cannot afford to overlook Wach because this guy has major world level power in his right hand and is capable of knocking anyone out in the division if he can land his big money punch.

Wach is still the unfinished product because he lacks defensive skills, a jab, left hand and the ability to move quickly. For that reason few boxing fans are seeing him as having a chance of winning this fight. However, he’s got the chance of winning because of that right hand of his that can be a game changer.

Can Wach derail Klitschko?

Image: Can Wach derail Klitschko?(Photo credit: Michael Freitag) By John F. McKenna (McJack): Undefeated Polish heavyweight contender Marius Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) has a golden opportunity to derail WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO and Ring heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 51 KO’s) when they clash on November 10 in Hamburg, Germany. For the first time in nearly a decade Wladimir will be without Emanuel Steward, who transformed “Dr. Steelhammer” from a fighter who was prone to run out of gas and get knocked out, into one of the most dominant heavyweight champions in boxing history.

Wach at 6’7 ½” is the first fighter that the 6’6” Klitschko will actually have to look up to during the pre fight instructions. Marius is also known for having KO power in his potent right hand. Wach has demonstrated his power time and again, albeit against vastly inferior fighters to Wladimir. For this fight however the “Viking” as he is known to his fans, is genuinely confident of becoming the first Polish heavyweight champion.
