Morales didn’t look terrible against Maidana

By Joe Ramos: Ever since the Marcos Maidana vs. Erik Morales fight was announced, all of the articles I read on the internet talked about how Maidana was going to totally destroy Morales in their April 9th fight at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Everyone knew that this was going to be a tune-up fight for Maidana before he faced some of the more so called elite talent of the light welterweight division. The problem is, nobody told Morales.

The real reason Morales did not get the win against Maidana

By Mark Hepplestall: In the eyes of many Erik Morales shocked the world turning back the hands of time and pulled off the upset of the century. This can be verified as the fight was not even supposed to be competitive, never mind have Morales the winner, but Morales showed that speed and movement may decrease with age but class in permanent. So why did Morales lose a controversial points decision? It’s all politics.

What did Marcos Maidana really win?

By Gerardo Granados: Last Saturday 4th, brawler Marcos Maidana defeated boxing great Erik Morales by MD 12 rounds, but what did he really win? He was supposed to utterly defeat Morales, he was supposed to not only knock out Morales before the final round but to hurt him so bad, most of boxing writers gave no chance to Morales to win, some were worried for Morales health and the betting odds were simply ridiculous.

Response to – Morales lost to Maidana because he didn’t throw enough punches and was too weak, double standards?

By Mark Hepplestall: After reading the article with the above title I picked out the key selling line to this article, which was “Maidana landed more punches and threw the harder shots. That’s how you win” when looking at this statement that is not totally true, boxing is the sweet science, it is the sport of hitting without getting hit in return.

Morales lost to Maidana because he didn’t throw enough punches and was too weak – Response

Image: Morales lost to Maidana because he didn’t throw enough punches and was too weak – ResponseBy Dave Mackfoid:In a recent post a writer suggested that 34-year-old Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO’s) lost a decision to Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) due to not landing enough power shots, even though Morales clearly landed the better quality shots and more eye catching flurries. Firstly the article this is based on is just a way of trying to ensure the Maidana fans that he had a chance of picking up a victory when in reality he should have been a total laughing stock for losing to a boxer that is totally past his best.

Morales fought toe-to-toe with Maidana for 12 rounds: Why didn’t Khan do that?

Image: Morales fought toe-to-toe with Maidana for 12 rounds: Why didn't Khan do that?By William Mackay: It was inspiring to watch a seemingly over-the-hill Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO’s) stand and fight Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) in 12 rounds of toe-to-toe action without running around the ring looking to not get hit. To be sure, Morales lost the fight by a 12 round majority decision, but he gave a much better performance in losing than Amir Khan did in beating Maidana last December in my book. This wasn’t nearly a prime version of Morales and it’s scary to think what he could have done had he been seven years younger and fighting at his best. But he didn’t need to run around the ring like Khan and stink up the joint.
