Haye not impressed with Wladimir’s victory over Pianeta

wladimir#7By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA/WBA heavyweight champion David Haye was less than thrilled with IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s opponent Francesco Pianeta for last Saturday night in Wladimir’s easy 6th round TKO win over Pianeta at the SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.

Haye said he’d never heard of the 6’5” Pianeta before, and he thinks Wladimir could have knocked Pianeta out in the 1st round if he had chosen to.

Haye said to ESPN “I never heard of him before. I had to check his record and it was pretty shocking to be honest. The only standout name on his record is Frans Botha, who he struggled to be on points…he [Wladimir] would never fight a sparring partner that would give him any kinds of problems.

Klitschko destroys Pianeta

wlad43By Jim Dower: In a dreadful mismatch, IBO/IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO’s) made easy work of a badly over-matched Francesco Pianeta (28-1-1, 15 KO’s) in the 6th round tonight at the SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.

Wladimir put Pianeta down three times in the fight, once in the 4th, 5th and a final time in the 6th. Wladimir finished Pianeta off with a left, right, left combination that sent Pianeta down on the canvas badly hurt.

To his credit, Pianeta staggered to his feet but the fight was stopped after the referee saw how hurt Pianeta was.

Wladimir, 37, had been attempting to get a fight with WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, but when he was unable to nail down the fight, he chose to get in an easy fight against the light hitting southpaw Pianeta just so that he can keep the rust from forming.

The 6’6” Wladimir weighed in at 249 pounds at today’s weigh-in. The 6’5” Pianeta came in at 240 lbs. There’s not much difference in height and weight that separates the two fighters. What does differentiate the two is the super power, speed, experience and boxing skills that the Ukrainian Wladimir has going for him.

Pianeta with only a punchers chance of beating Wladimir

WK-CAMP-4-2013-DAY-7-FIGHT-WEEK-DAY-public-workout_MG_4557-copy(PHoto credit: K-MG) By Allan Fox: Francesco Pianeta (28-0-1, 15 KO’s), the former sparring partner for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KO’s), says he’s spotted Wladimir’s weaknesses from their sparring sessions and he intends on using his knowledge to defeat the 6’6” Ukrainian this Saturday night in their fight at the SAP-Arena, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

I hope for the 6’5” Pianeta’s sake that his plan is for him to try and KO Wladimir because that’s about the only chance Pianeta has in winning this fight. He’s not going to be able to out-box Wladimir because he doesn’t have the hand-speed, jab or the power to win by a decision.

Wladimir looking for 51st knockout against Pianeta on Saturday

WK-CAMP-4-2013-DAY-1-bw-small-border-color_MG_0618-copy(Pic by www.michaelsterlingeaton.com / KMG) By Allan Fox: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (50-3, 50 KO’s) will be looking to add his 51st knockout of his career this Saturday against one of his weaker opponents unbeaten Francesco Pianeta (28-0-1, 15 KO’s) at the SAP-Arena, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Wladimir has really taken a hammering from boxing fans for going out of his way to face the 6’5’ Pianeta instead of looking to fight someone a little better. The excuses from Wladimir that he’s unable to get guys to face him is starting to wear thin with fans because there are a lot of fighters that are more than willing to fight him. He’s got Tyson Fury practically begging him to fight him, and yet Wladimir turns around and fights the likes of Mariusz Wach and now Pianeta.

IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO and “The Ring Magazine” Heavyweight Champion Klitschko and his undefeated Italian contender Pianeta will face off next Saturday at the SAP arena Mannheim, Germany.

Wladimir Klitschko: “I know that Francesco Pianeta will have a fight plan but there is the famous quote by Mike Tyson that says: ‘Everyone has a plan until he gets hit’. Pianeta will be super motivated and wants to use his big chance but I am very experienced and will show him his limits.”

Wladimir Klitschko vs. Francesco Pianeta this Saturday, May 4th in Mannheim, Germany

wladimir67By Allan Fox: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KO’s) will be defending his titles this Saturday night in what appears to be a really bad mismatch against Francesco Pianeta (28-0-1, 15 KO’s) at the SAP-Arena, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Pianeta still hasn’t been beaten but he also hasn’t ever faced anyone like Wladimir. Pianeta, #7 WBO, #12 WBA, is going into this fight a very green fighter without the kind of experience that you’d like to see from a title challenger before they’re thrown in with a champion.
