Khan hopes to fight Marquez, leaving Hatton in the cold

khan445454By William Mackay: If World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan gets his way, he’ll be the one fighting Juan Manuel Marquez in the near future, not former light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton. Khan said in an article with the Daily Star “He [Juan Manuel Marquez] is made for my style and, if I beat him, people will start knowing who Amir Khan is in the United States.” Khan is hoping that a victory over a big named star like Marquez will be just what is needed to put Khan in the category of huge mega PPV stars like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan-Salita: Amir Will Stop Dmitriy

khan45354By Peter Wells: Amir Khan defends his WBA Light Welterweight title next weekend I Newcastle against unbeaten but untested Dmitriy Salita. Salita has only been 12 rounds once and has no punch, so won’t trouble Khan’s suspect chin. You can see it was a clever defence by Amir, don’t dive in the deep end straight away, and he could be saved from Maidana as he has been linked with a fight against WBC titleholder Devon Alexander.

Why is Dmitriy Salita ranked number one by the WBA?

salita343By Liam Santiago: I have tried time and time again to try and figure out why Dmitriy Salita is the number one contender for Amir Khan’s World Boxing Association title but I can not, for the life of me come up with any reason. Boxrec have him ranked 60th in the light welterweight class. Yes, 60th! This guy does not stand a chance against Amir Khan. Not because Khan is great, because Salita is way below average. He has been dropped more times than Khan and that is saying something!

Salita says he will target Khan’s ‘vulnerable chin’ – Boxing

khan635686By Liam Santiago: Dmitry Salita wants to follow in the footsteps of Breidis Prescott by knocking Amir Khan out when they meet in Newcastle on December 5th. There is a huge blue print on how to knock Khan down as it has been done on more than a couple of occasions. Is Salita a power puncher? No. Can Salita knock out Khan? Yes. If Khan runs away like we expect, then expect a points win for Khan. If he stands and fights, expect a KO win for Salita.

Khan talks about Hatton and Prescott – News

khan563455670By Scott Gilfoid: I got a few chuckles reading the latest boxing news quotes on Amir Khan at The Guardian where Khan says “What happened to me against [Breidis] Prescott didn’t make Prescott a better fighter than me. It was a little mistake I made.” A little mistake? Yeah, I guess you could call being knocked damn near unconscious a little mistake, but the way that Prescott had Khan flopping around on the canvas like a fish out of water, I think Khan might be in denial.

Khan should be on the undercard on December 5th

khan45646451By Liam Santiago: I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan’s bout with Dmitriy Salita on December 5th, which is to be screened on PPV. However, a couple of the undercard bouts are great. Lightweight boxing hero to many British fans, Breidis Prescott is squaring off against top British contender, Kevin Mitchell.

Khan doesn’t see bout against Pacquiao happening

By William Mackay: Amir Khan, the WBA light welterweight champion, doesn’t see himself fighting World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in the future because of how long it will take for him to get up to Pacquiao’s level. In an interview at the Sportinglife, Khan said “But as for fighting him in the future, I can’t really see that happening because I’m sure by the time I get to that level he will probably be calling it a day.”
