Khan vs. Maidana

By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (33-3, 30 KO’s) has volunteered to be Amir Khan’s next opponent on April 20th this year, and he says Khan owes him a rematch after his win over him back in December 2010.

Khan’s promoter Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions is currently looking at Vyacheslav Senchenko, Victor Ortiz [Who Maidana knocked out] and Josesito Lopez as possible opponents for Khan’s April 20th fight. Not surprisingly, Maidana’s name has wasn’t mentioned as one of the candidates despite the fact that his 2010 fight with Khan was one of the most exciting fights of the year.

By William Mackay: Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) will be defending his WBA light welterweight title on September 16th against a still to be determined opponent at the Sociedad Alemana, Villa Ballester, Buenos Aires, Argentina. This comes after his previously scheduled opponent for August 27th, Robert Guerrero, tore up his rotator cuff, and could be out of action for as long as six months.

By William Mackay: It’s interesting to see how Amir Khan has suddenly reversed his opinion about the Robert Guerrero vs. Marcos Maidana fight in the span of only two months. Khan recently said that he thought Maidana would be too strong for Guererro. However, today in an interview at worldboxingnews.net, Khan said “Guerrero is a good boxer would have made him look silly at times.”

By William Mackay: It seems that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) hasn’t exactly been eager to get back in the ring with Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) after taking a savage beating from Maidana in close win over him last December. Khan was out on his feet in the last three rounds and took one-way traffic while having Maidana peeled off of him again and again by referee Joe Cortez while Khan was taking a lot of shots.

By William Mackay: The hard hitting light welterweight contender Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KO’s) would like to have a rematch against WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) after losing by a close 12 round unanimous decision to him last December. Khan was badly hurt in the 10th by a right hand from Maidana, and then spent much of the remainder of he fight holding on to Maidana and running.

By Scott Gilfoid: Argentinian knockout artist Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KO’s) is ready right now to travel to England and put WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) out of his misery in a rematch that almost boxing fans, including HBO, are interested in seeing. Khan had been talking about wanting to fight little known UK fighter Paul McCloskey, but that fight fell through earlier today because of Khan’s low offer.
