Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook close to being made

khan1111By Poerqe: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) and Amir Khan (29-3,19 KOs) seem to be close on finalizing a fight between the two for may next year. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been negotiating with Khan’s management over a May fight, in probably Wembley stadium. Hearn, writing in his Dailymail.co.uk column, said: “Talks are ongoing over a fight between Kell Brook and Amir Khan. It is going well because I think everyone realizes it makes sense.”

“Everything so far has been very straightforward and I am in talks with Wembley over a May date. They want us back there as soon as possible after the success of Froch-Groves – I have no doubt in my mind that we would fill that stadium again. I hope to have this tied up in the next month or so.”

Khan: Brook could be on my agenda in 2015 if he beats Porter

khan62By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBC Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KO’s) says he might give Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) a fight in 2015 if Brook defeats IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) in their fight this year. Brook will have to capture Porter’s IBF title before Khan will consider giving him a fight, and even then it’s not certain whether Khan will fight him or not.

Given the likelihood that Brook is going to be obliterated by Porter, Khan isn’t really doing much by saying he’ll throw a bone to Brook. It’s almost impossible scenario where Brook is going to beat Porter, and even if he did beat him, Khan will likely get beaten if his adviser Al Haymon takes him off his soft diets of old fighters and puts him in with a real contender with youth and talent.

Hearn: A Khan-Brook fight will be on our terms, not Khan’s

Image: Hearn: A Khan-Brook fight will be on our terms, not Khan'sBy Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is already looking past his fighter Kell Brook’s next fight on January 19th against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) towards a fight between Brook and Amir Khan. Hearn says for a fight between Khan and Brook to take place it’ll have to be his liking.

In other words, Hearn is seeing himself and Brook in the power position by virtue of the IBF 147 pound strap that Brook hasn’t even won yet. Is that silly or what? The chances of Brook beating Alexander are EXTREMELY remote and yet here is Hearn planning a future schedule for Brook that looks past that fight as if it’s already a win on Brook’s record.

Khan vs. Brook possible for 2013

Image: Khan vs. Brook possible for 2013By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that he’s been in discussion with the promoter for Amir Khan about a fight between him and his fighter unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) for a bout that could take place in 2013, after Brook fights Hector Saldivia and the winner of the Randall Bailey vs. Devon Alexander fight. Obviously, it would be contingent on the 26-year-old Brook having the IBF welterweight title after beating the Alexander-Bailey winner. Fat chance that happens.

Hearn said to Sky Sports News “I first spoke to Asif Vali, Amir Khan’s manager after the Garcia [Khan vs. Danny Garcia] fight, thinking about a potential Brook vs. Khan fight in the winter or early next year. Those discussions continued after their recent appearances on Ringside. I think this fight is inevitable.”

Hearn thinks the fight will make big cash and draw between 40,000 and 50,000 fans.

Khan would have problems with Kell Brook

Image: Khan would have problems with Kell BrookBy William Mackay: Perhaps it’s for the best that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) doesn’t fight unbeaten top welterweight and fellow Brit Kell Brook (23-0, 16 KO’s). It isn’t about Brook being bigger than Khan or anything like that, because Brook is actually shorter than Khan at 5’9″ compared to the 5’10” Khan. And it isn’t because Brook is bigger than Khan in terms of weight or frame, because only a mere seven pounds separates the light welterweight division where Khan fights and the welterweight division where Brook fights.
