Khan vs. Brook

By Poerqe: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) and Amir Khan (29-3,19 KOs) seem to be close on finalizing a fight between the two for may next year. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been negotiating with Khan’s management over a May fight, in probably Wembley stadium. Hearn, writing in his Dailymail.co.uk column, said: “Talks are ongoing over a fight between Kell Brook and Amir Khan. It is going well because I think everyone realizes it makes sense.”

“Everything so far has been very straightforward and I am in talks with Wembley over a May date. They want us back there as soon as possible after the success of Froch-Groves – I have no doubt in my mind that we would fill that stadium again. I hope to have this tied up in the next month or so.”

By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBC Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KO’s) says he might give Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) a fight in 2015 if Brook defeats IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) in their fight this year. Brook will have to capture Porter’s IBF title before Khan will consider giving him a fight, and even then it’s not certain whether Khan will fight him or not.

Given the likelihood that Brook is going to be obliterated by Porter, Khan isn’t really doing much by saying he’ll throw a bone to Brook. It’s almost impossible scenario where Brook is going to beat Porter, and even if he did beat him, Khan will likely get beaten if his adviser Al Haymon takes him off his soft diets of old fighters and puts him in with a real contender with youth and talent.

By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that he’s been in discussion with the promoter for Amir Khan about a fight between him and his fighter unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (28-0, 18 KO’s) for a bout that could take place in 2013, after Brook fights Hector Saldivia and the winner of the Randall Bailey vs. Devon Alexander fight. Obviously, it would be contingent on the 26-year-old Brook having the IBF welterweight title after beating the Alexander-Bailey winner. Fat chance that happens.

Hearn said to Sky Sports News “I first spoke to Asif Vali, Amir Khan’s manager after the Garcia [Khan vs. Danny Garcia] fight, thinking about a potential Brook vs. Khan fight in the winter or early next year. Those discussions continued after their recent appearances on Ringside. I think this fight is inevitable.”

By William Mackay: Now that promoter Eddie Hearn has successfully gotten his fighter Kell Brook (27-0, 18 KO’s) past his fight last night against the light-hitting fringe contender Matthew Hatton in an easy win, Hearn now is setting his sights on a fight between Brook and former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO’s) in what Hearn envisions being a pay-per-view bout that he plans on staging in an outdoor arena in the UK. Hearn thinks the fight will make big cash and draw between 40,000 and 50,000 fans.

By William Mackay: Promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping Amir Khan will fight his guy Kell Brook next year when Khan moves up to the welterweight division and tries to campaign at that new weight.

Hearn told The Times “Khan is talking about moving up to welterweight next year and it would be a farce if he didn’t face Kell. Amir is a special talent and so is Kell, and that would be a very big fight.”

McKenna (McJack): WBA/IBF light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) who faces mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO’s) on December 10 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. is already eyeing up his next opponent. Khan’s fight with Peterson will be his last fight at light welterweight, after which he will move up to the welterweight division.

By William Mackay: British promoter Frank Warren has offered World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) a fight with upcoming star Kell Brook (23-0, 16 KO’s) for Khan’s next fight in the UK in April. Khan, who recently barely beat Marcos Maidana in a life and death bout last Saturday night. Brook, who’s ranked #1 by the WBO in the welterweight division, stopped Philip Kotey in the 2nd round on the same night and looked very impressive.
