Thurman, 26, is thankful that he’s facing an unbeaten fighter because he enjoys fighting undefeated guys. But he wishes he was fighting either Amir Khan or Devon Alexander.

Khan to wear $50,000 boxing trunks for Alexander fight

khan111By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) will be walking into the ring this Saturday night wearing expensive $50,000 boxing trunks for his clash with American Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The trunks have crocodile trim and 24 carat gold thread around the waist.
The reason for Khan wearing the expensive trunks is anyone’s guess. You could say perhaps that Khan is wearing the expensive trunks to put himself in the class of fighters like Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Alexander: I’m going to stay in the pocket against Khan and fight

KhanAlexanderLVWorkout_Hoganphotos9(Photo credit: Hogan Photos)By Scott Gilfoid: Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) says he wants to stay in the pocket on Saturday night and punch with Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) in order to expose him in their fight on Showtime from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Alexander recognizes that Khan has a chin problem, and he wants to capitalize on that by looking to hit him as often as possible to try and score a knockout.

Alexander notes that Khan has fast hands, but he doesn’t see him as being much faster than his own hand speed. He sees the two of them as being close enough in the hand speed department where it won’t matter.

Amir Khan’s Future: The Rise or fall?

khan45By Lukasz Clemans: Unfortunately in the sport of boxing it is too often the case that in the main event of a big fight night there is a clear favourite against a very unlikely winner, regardless of how well known the underdog may be. It is usually the smaller fights which are less predictable such as the fights between two untested and unbeaten potential contenders.

This Saturday Las Vegas hosts a great night of boxing with the main event being a showdown between two fighters who have had their ups and downs in recent years and the result wouldn’t be a surprise to many if it went either way.

Khan: There are going to be huge fights for me in 2015

khan52By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) is counting on 2015 being a huge year for him. Khan is hoping to get big fights against the top names in the sport such as Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao after failing to get fights against them during the first nine years of his pro career.

For Khan to get in the running for fights against the likes of Mayweather and Pacquiao in 2015 and beyond, he’s going to need to pass a minor test this Saturday night against Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Glass jaw rhapsody: Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander

khan6676By Gary J Cooper: I learned that Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander had been made when The Fight Guru (@TheFightGuru) tweeted it. I tweeted back, asking what he thought the odds would be. He didn’t give me a number, but said he thought Alexander would win. I tweeted back that I thought Khan would be about a (-250) favorite.

Khan is currently a (-240) favorite. Off the top of my head, I think the odds may have fluctuated from around (-230) to (-260) or so. I don’t remember for sure, but there hasn’t been much movement.

Devon Alexander: Was he chosen for Khan due to his lack of punching power?

Amir Khan and Devon AlexanderBy Scott Gilfoid: Out of all the potential fighters that could have been matched against Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) for his fight this Saturday night, Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs), a fighter known for not having much in the way of punching power was selected to face him in their fight on Showtime.

The big question is was Alexander, 27, specifically selected to face Khan due to his lack of power or was this just a case of Khan’s promoters at Golden Boy accidentally picking out a guy with a low knockout percentage.

Amir Khan should take example of Sadam Ali

khan1By Mohamed Horomtallah: Amir Khan is at a crossroads. His upcoming fight against Devon Alexander is a must win not only to be in the mix for a potential Floyd Mayweather Jr fight but also and perhaps mostly to prove that he could be an elite fighter at 147 pounds.

Khan knows that he must win and win big against Alexander. That could give him a boost but it could also prove to be a handicap, especially if the fight doesn’t play out as he initially planned.
