Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas to fight for interim WBO 147lb title

bradley73By Dan Ambrose: Tim Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) and Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) will be fighting for the WBO interim welterweight title this Saturday night on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The WBO interim title could turn into the full WBO title if Floyd Mayweather Jr., the current WBO 147lb champion, fails to send the World Boxing Organization a $200,000 sanctioning fee for the strap after he beat Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd of last month, according to Fight News.

Jessie Vargas: I’m getting this win over Tim Bradley no matter what

bradley567By Chris Williams: After struggling and looking poor in his last three fights against Khabib Allakhverdiev, Anton Novikov and Antonio DeMarco, Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) feels that he’s going to find success in his fight in 11 days from now against former two division world champion Tim Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Their promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has been saying that the WBO welterweight title will be on the line for this fight, but I don’t think that’s the case. The WBO 147 pound title belongs to Floyd Mayweather Jr. after he dominated Manny Pacquiao to get the victory on May 2nd of last month. The Bradley-Vargas fight is pretty much just a fight between contenders.

Humberto Soto vs. Ray Beltran on Bradley-Vargas card on June 27th

beltran1By Dan Ambrose: The Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas fight card just got a lot better with the addition of a light welterweight clash between Raymundo Beltran )30-7-1, 18 KOs) and former two division world champion Humberto Soto (65-8-2, 35 KOs) on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Soto-Beltran fight will be the co-feature bout on the Bradley vs. Vargas card, and it might very well out-shine the main event. Braley-Vargas could turn out to be a dull tactical fight with a lot of jabbing, moving and clinching. That’s how Vargas likes to fight, and it’s sometimes mind numbingly boring to watch.

Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas official for June 27th on HBO from StubHub Center, Carson, CA

bradley356By Chris Williams: In an example of Bob Arum’s mixing and matching between members of his Top Rank stable, #1 WBO welterweight contender Tim Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) will be facing unbeaten WBA 140lb champ Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The fight will be shown on HBO World Championship Boxing.

Neither of these guys have looked good recently. Bradley is coming off of a 12 round draw against Diego Chaves in his last fight, and he looked really poor in that fight. Instead of facing Vargas, Bradley should be facing Chaves again to prove that his poor performance wasn’t just a fluke thing.

Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas on June 27th at StubHub, Carson, California

bradley91By Chris Williams: #1 WBO, #3 IBF, #5 WBC, #6 WBA welterweight contender Tim Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) will be fighting WBA World light welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Vargas, 25, will be moving up to 147 to take the fight against the former two division world champion Bradley in this fight. The fight will be televised on HBO Championship Boxing.

This fight isn’t surprising because both Bradley and Vargas are with Top Rank, and the head of the company Bob Arum likes to have a lot of in house fights. For instance, Bradley has already fought the Top Rank promoted Manny Pacquiao twice.

Pacquiao faces Jessie Vargas, Mayweather battles Cotto, says Robert Garcia

pac738By Chris Williams: Right now there’s a lot of confusion going on about who Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will be facing next. While they’re both still technically in negotiations with each other, Pacquiao’s recent announcement of a January 31st deadline for Mayweather to agree to the contract may have ultimately been the final nail in the coffin of the negotiations, because it doesn’t appear there’s enough time before then to finish up the negotiations.

Trainer Robert Garcia sees little chance of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight taking place. Instead of this fight, he sees Pacquiao fighting fellow Top Rank stablemate Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) next on May 30th, and Garcia likes this fight.

Jessie Vargas vs. Manny Pacquiao a possibility for 2015

vargasBy Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has made it known that his number one priority for the next fight for Manny Pacquiao (57-5-w, 38 KOs) is to match him up against WBA/WBC 147 pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs). But since that fight will likely not be happening anytime soon if ever, Arum is going to need to match Pacquiao against someone.

One of the possibilities for Pacquiao to face in 2015 is Arum’s fighter WBA champion Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs). Arum is reportedly interested in matching Pacquiao up against the 25-year-old Vargas, even though Vargas arguably has about as many fans as Pacquiao’s last opponent Chris Algieri. This should be a fight even easier than the Algieri fight for the aging Pacquiao.
