Hopkins will go into survival mode as soon as Kovalev nails him, says Jackson

kovalev8888By Dan Ambrose: John David Jackson, the trainer for WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs), believes that IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs) is going to go into survival mode once he gets hit hard for the first time by Kovalev in their fight coming up next month on November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Jackson thinks that Hopkins isn’t going to want to stand and trade with Kovalev once he feels his power for the first time. Jackson also doubts that Hopkins will be able to go 12 hard rounds with Kovalev at nearly 50, and after what he expects to be a very hard training camp.

Hopkins could be in trouble against Kovalev

hopkins2222By Dan Ambrose: 49-year-old IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs) may have bit off more than he can chew in taking on WBO 175lb champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) in their fight next month on November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Hopkins is doing this for his legacy in order to try and pick up another belt, but he may have picked the wrong guy. Kovalev isn’t like the guys that Hopkins has beaten recently in defeating Karo Murat, Tavoris Cloud and Beibut Shumenov.

Hopkins motivated by danger Kovalev brings

hopkins666By Chris Williams: 49-year-old IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs) says he’s motivated by the dangerous that the hard hitting Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) brings to the table in their fight in less than two months on November 8th on HBO Championship Boxing at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Hopkins, who turns 50 next January, says he likes the idea of going towards danger rather than going away from it like many fighters do. He doesn’t want to be one of those fighters that takes the easy path, and who says ‘It’s up to my promoter’, when asked if he would be interested in fighting a tough opponent.

kirkland334By Dan Ambrose: James Kirkland (32-1, 28 KOs) will be fighting Gabriel Rosado (21-8, 13 KOs) in what will likely be the chief support on the Bernard Hopkins vs. Sergey Kovalev card on November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Hopkins-Kovalev tickets go on sale this Friday

HopkinsKovalevNYPC_Hoganphotos(Photo Credit: Hogan Photos/Golden Boy Promotions) By Allan Fox: Tickets for the November 8th unification clash between WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) and IBF/WBA 175 pound champion Bernard Hopkins goes on sale this Friday for their fight at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Hopkins, 49, will be looking to break his own record for being the oldest fighter to capture a world title. Hopkins wants the 31-year-old Kovalev’s title, because it would give him 3 of the 4 world title belts at 175.

If Hopkins can win the WBO title, he’ll only be missing the WBC belt from his collection. The WBC title is currently held by Adonis Stevenson, who is being very selective in the fights he takes nowadays.

Stevenson’s adviser Al Haymon is the one that selects his fights, and it’s unclear whether he’ll give him the green light to face Hopkins.

HopkinsKovalevPhilly_Hoganphotos2(Photo Credit: Hogan Photos/Golden Boy Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs) and WBO champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) met today in a press conference in New York to promoter their upcoming November 8th unification fight at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Hopkins did most of the talking, as usual. Kovalev spoke briefly saying very little other than that he would leaving the promotional work to Hopkins because he’s not a big talker.

“After I whop Kovalev systematically, I don’t want to be on nobody’s pound-for-pound list because that will make me a human,” Hopkins said in today’s press conference in New York. “You’re going to see an artist on November 8th. You’re going to witness Louie Armstrong. Watch the ageless one take care of business.”
