Hearn: Eubank Jr. can fight Golovkin vs. Brook winner

eubank74

By Allan Fox: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says he wants to match his fighter Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs) against the winner of the September 10 fight between IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) and Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs). Hearn attempted to put together a fight between Eubank Jr. and Golovkin recently, but he couldn’t hammer out the deal.

Eubank Jr. reportedly froze when it came time for him to agree to the contract. Hearn needed Eubank Jr. to quickly agree because he had a short timeline before Golovkin and his team would move on and look for another opponent.

Khan approves of Brook facing Golovkin

khan836

By Patrick McHugh: Amir Khan likes the idea that IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) is moving up in weight two divisions to take on unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) in two months from now on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Khan said on his social media site on Friday that he sees Brook’s move as a similar one that he made recently when he too moved up in weight to face a middleweight in former WBC champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on May 7 this year.

Khan fought well for five rounds, but was knocked unconscious in the 6th. However, Khan gained a great deal of respect in the boxing world for taking on such a dangerous opponent. What made it more impressive for Khan to take the challenge was his lighter weight. He’s a fighter that started his career out as a lightweight, and hasn’t been fighting at welterweight for very long.

Kell Brook: It’s time for me to shock the world!

brook8

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) lucked out by taking advantage of Chris Eubank Jr’s reluctance to agree to a fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 25 KOs) by stepping in agreeing to those very same terms to get a fight against him on September 10. Brook says he’s going to “shock the world” by beating the Kazakhstan fighter.

The Golovkin-Brook fight will be staged at the O2 Arena in London, England. Brook will have the hometown advantage. Whether that will help him or not is debatable. Having the hometown advantage can sometimes help when the fight goes to the scorecards, but I don’t see the Golovkin vs. Brook fight going to the cards.

Golovkin has knocked out everyone he’s faced for the last eight years of his pro career. He’s knocked out 22 consecutive opponents. Yeah, some of the guys Golovkin beat were fodder opponents, but many of them were good solid fighters. Golovkin stopped Matthew Macklin, David Lemieux, and Martin Murray.

Hearn: The Eubanks let deadline pass for Golovkin fight

eubank666

By Dan Ambrose: Chris Eubank Jr’s promoter Eddie Hearn says he gave him and his father Chris Eubank Sr. a deadline for them to agree to the contract terms for a fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin for a fight in September, but they let the deadline pass without agreeing to what he had asked them. You have to wonder whether Eubank Jr. and his father Chris Eubank Sr. were ever really serious about wanting to fight Golovkin. There are some who believe that they used this Golovkin fight opportunity for publicity purposes rather than have true interest in fighting him. They would have made a fortune if they had agreed to the contract and signed.

Hearn feels that the Eubanks might have thought he was bluffing when it came to his deadline. He wasn’t though. When the deadline passed, Hearn went ahead and offered the same deal terms that he had offered the Eubanks to IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, and he readily agreed. So instead of Eubank Jr. fighting Golovkin next, it’ll be Brook fighting the Kazakhstan fighter on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Loeffler says Eubank Jr. stalled in Golovkin negotiations

eubank9144

By Dan Ambrose: If you were wondering why IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) is the one that will be facing IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) on September 10 instead of #2 WBA, #2 WBC 160lb contender Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs), it’s because Eubank Jr. stalled when it came to signing the contract for the Golovkin fight.

According to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler, the contract was presented to Eubank Jr., but he didn’t sign. The same contract was taken by Eubank Jr’s promoter Eddie Hearn and presented to Brook, and he immediately agreed to the contract and signed. When you snooze you lose, and Eubank Jr. just missed out on a life-changing fight and payday.

By Scott Gilfoid: Taking a page from Amir Khan’s playbook, unbeaten IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) will be moving up from 147 to face unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, UK. This is real shocking news, as Golovkin was previously in negotiations with middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs) to face him next in September.
