Mikey Garcia’s nose healed for Juanma clash this Saturday in Dallas, Texas

garcia2By Dan Ambrose: WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) had surgery on his broken nose from his win over Orlando Salido last January and his nose is now healed and he’s ready for his fight against former two-division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2, 30 KO’s) this Saturday, June 15th at the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, Texas, USA. Garcia’s nose may be healed but it’s still going to be a prominent target for Lopez’s big punches and I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Lopez breaks it again with a big shot.

I just hope that Garcia doesn’t complain to the referee that he can’t breathe through his nose and then the fight gets stopped again.

Terrence Crawford vs. Alejandro Sanabria on Garcia-Lopez undercard on June 15th in Dallas

crawford44By Chris Williams: Unbeaten lightweight contender Terrence Crawford (20-0, 15 KO’s) will be taking on Alejandro Sanabria (34-1-1, 25 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout on the undercard of the Mikey Garcia vs. Juan Manuel Lopez fight card on June 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Top Rank is really high on the 25-year-old counter punching Crawford, #11 IBF, and are moving him along to get him a hopeful title shot in the near future against Miguel Vazquez. Crawford is coming off of a 10 round unanimous decision over Breidis Prescott last March in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mikey Garcia vs. Juan Manuel Lopez on June 15th in Dallas, Texas

garcia22By Dan Ambrose: WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his title next month against former two-division world champion Juan “Juanma” Manuel Lopez (33-2, 30 KO’s) on June 15th at the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, Texas, USA.

This is a potentially tough fight for the 25-year-old Garcia because he was kind of exposed in his last fight against Orlando Salido last January in which Garcia had started running out of gas by the 4th round and looked like he wanted out of the fight by the 8th.

Luckily for Garcia, he got his way out of the fight when an accidental headbutt broke his nose. Rather than toughing it out like many fighters do when they suffer a broken nose, Garcia complained that he couldn’t breathe out of his nose, which is a fairly common thing for a fight with a broken nose. That’s just how it is, but the fight was stopped anyway.

Mikey Garcia vs. Juan Manuel Lopez possible for May 11 or 18th

garcia22By Dan Ambrose: Dan Rafael is reporting that a fight between WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) and former two division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez (32-2, 29 KO’s) is in the works for May 11th or May 18th on HBO.

There isn’t a venue yet, but it’s possible that the fight could head to Puerto Rico because that’s easily the best play to stage if they want to attract a large gate. Garcia-Lopez won’t likely draw a lot of boxing fans outside of Puerto Rico unless they stage it in New York where Lopez has a lot of fans.

The 25-year-old Garcia’s broken nose has healed from his 8th round technical decision victory over Orlando Salido last January. Garcia had surgery on his nose to straighten it out after Salido knocked it askew in the 8th round by an accidental head-butt.
