Will Carl Froch take Gennady Golovkin fight?

froch456667

By Scot Gilfoid: Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch has the option of making a TON of money by coming out of retirement to face unbeaten middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn isn’t sure whether the 39-year-old Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) will come out of retirement to take the match, but he believes that he’s thinking about it.

It would be a major risk for Froch, because Golovkin can actually fight. He’s not someone that Froch could count on running out of gas or doing something stupid like fighting with his back against the ropes like George Groves and Lucian Bute did against him. Golovkin fights with intelligence, and would never back up against the ropes like a sparring partner the way Groves and Bute did against Froch.

Golovkin vs. Froch possible says Loeffler

golovkin633

By Scott Gilfoid: Middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler says he’s in talks with Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn about a potential fight between Golovkin and former super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs). Loeffler says initially they were “half joking” about wanting to put a fight together between Golovkin and the retired 39-year-old Froch, but after seeing how much interest the fight talk has generated on social media, he says they’re seriously interested in making the fight.

Loeffler wants to stage the Golovkin-Froch fight at the 80,000 seat Wembey Stadium in London, England. Loeffler believes the Froch vs. Golovkin fight would break the record for tickets sold from the Froch vs. George Groves fight in May 2014 at Wembley Stadium.

Froch fires back at Rafael over criticism about Golovkin fight

froch7999By Scott Gilfoid: It looks like Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) is the touchy one today after ESPN writer Dan Rafael told him to keep his gob shut if he’s not interested in really fighting WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs). Rafael blasted Froch over the Tweet that he sent out yesterday in which he said “Too big & too strong for GGG.”

The tweet was no big deal, but it became a big deal when Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler called Froch on his words by telling him to back it up in the ring against Golovkin in saying “Carl, there’s only one way to find out @eddieHearn @GGGBoxing.” Loeffler basically lobbed an underhand pitch to Froch and all he had to do was hit it out of the park by saying ‘Anytime, anywhere,’ as far as when he would face Golovkin. But did Froch do that? Nope! Froch clammed up entirely and said nothing for the rest of the day.

Froch needs to prove he’s “too big & too strong” for Golovkin

froch67777By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) has been flapping his gums off and on in the past month about being interested potentially in facing WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs). However, when Golovkin and his promoter Tom Loeffler attempted to get the fight put together, they were met with silence from Froch.

In the recent past, Froch said that he going to make a decision in the first week of June whether he would return to the ring or not. Well, it’s not the first week of July, and Froch hasn’t said a word about whether he’ll be returning to fight or not.

Froch: I’m “Too big & too strong for GGG”

froch332By Scott Gilfoid: Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) might be starting to show some interest in facing the talented WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) after all. Earlier on Saturday, Froch sent a Tweet out saying that he’s “Too big & too strong for GGG.” It showed undated photo of Froch in front of some weights. We have no way of knowing when the photo of Froch was taken.

For all we know, Froch took the photo a couple of years ago when he was fighting on a regular basis and was still in shape. Froch looked a lot thinner than the pudgy-looking Froch I saw not too long ago on Sky. Froch looked like he had added weight to his jowls from being out of the ring for so long, but the Froch in this Tweet looks like he’s in fighting shape.

Froch not making a peep about Golovkin fight

froch67By Scott Gilfoid: After talking about wanting to possibly face the challenge of fighting undefeated WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), Britain’s Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) has seemingly disappeared into the woodwork. Froch has not said a word lately about whether he’ll take the fight or not, and boxing fans are left to wonder what happened to him.

Froch said he was going to make his decision about whether to retire or not by the first week of June. Well, the first week of this month has come and gone and Froch is missing in action.

froch1111By Scott Gilfoid: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) says he’d like to face Britain’s Carl Froch in a fight at Wembley Stadium in London, UK.

Golovkin has been hoping to hear from Froch, who has been silent on the subject of fighting Golovkin after initially entertaining the idea. Froch had said he would make a decision whether to come back or not in the first week of June, but since then he’s disappeared. It’s very strange.

Hearn: I don’t think Froch will fight again

hearn7890By Scott Gilfoid: In addressing concerns that WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler has about him ignoring him, Eddie Hearn, the promoter for former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs), says he’s not purposefully ignoring Loeffler about a potential fight between Froch and Golovkin.

It’s just that Hearn’s not sure if Froch will ever fight again. Indeed, Hearn says that he believes Froch will never fight again. That’s what Hearn feels right now based on the conversations he’s been having with the 37-year-old fighter.

Carl Froch vs Gennady Golovkin possible at super middleweight

golovkin883By Demetrius Luke: A bout between former four time super middleweight world champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) and current WBA (super) middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) is possible at super middleweight in the fall.

The fight would take place in the UK as that is where the card would almost certainty be a pay per view bill in a big outdoor football stadium. Froch was part of the last outdoor stadium fight in the UK just over a year ago when he defeated long time rival George Groves at Wembley Stadium.

Froch excited at being underdog against Golovkin

froch67By Scott Gilfoid: It’s starting to look like Britain’s Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) is going to return to the ring for a catch-weight fight at 164 pounds against middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in a fight that would take place in the UK.

Froch says he likes the idea of people not giving him much of a chance of beating Golovkin, because wants the opportunity of proving people wrong. However, the last time Froch was a huge underdog in a fight against Andre Ward in 2011, Froch failed to prove anyone wrong, as lost that fight against Ward.
