By Scott Gilfoid: George Groves (25-3, 18 KOs) and Fedor Chudinov have been officially added to the May 27th Kell Brook vs. Errol Spence Jr. card as the chief support at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England. Groves-Chudinov is a decent fight, but I would have preferred a better match-up than this as the chief support. I’m sorry, but a 3-time world title challenger loser like Groves facing a guy that lost his last fight in Chudinov is not a great fight in my book.

Groves vs. Chudinov to fight on Brook-Spence card on May 27
By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is working on a deal to add #2 WBA super middleweight contender George Grove (25-3, 18 KOs) and #1 WBA Fedor Chudinov (14-1, 10 KOs) to the May 27th undercard of the Kell Brook vs. Errol Spence Jr. card at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England.
George Groves vs. Fedor Chudinov a done deal
By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBA Fedor Chudinov (14-1, 10 KOs) will be fighting #2 WBA George Groves (25-3, 18 KOs) for the vacant WBA Super World super middleweight title. The fight was announced last Saturday. The date and venue has yet to be determined, but the fight will be taking place in England, the home country of the 29-year-old Groves.
Groves wants Fedor Chudinov fight in March for WBA title
By Scott Gilfoid: #3 WBA contender George Groves (25-3, 18 KOs) is hoping to fight #1 WBA Fedor Chudinov (14-1, 10 KOs) for the vacant WBA super middleweight title in March. The World Boxing Association is going to have Groves and the 29-year-old former WBA 168lb champion Chudinov fight for the recently vacated title.
The only question is when does the fight take place? Felix Sturm recently vacated the WBA title. He beat Chudinov by a controversial 12 round decision last February in Germany. I saw the fight and had Chudinov winning, but he did not look good at all in that contest. The hand speed or lack thereof was just missing with Chudinov. He made what should have been an easy fight into a very difficult one because of his slow hands.
Sturm considering retirement
By Scott Gilfoid: After winning a very controversial 12 round majority decision last Saturday night over WBA Super World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (14-1, 10 KOs), 37-year-old Felix Sturm (40-5-3, 18 KOs) says he’s thinking of retiring from the sport after 15 years in the ring.
Sturm appeared to lose the fight against Chudinov in the minds of many boxing fans, but the three judges scored it 114-114, 115-113 and 115-113 for Sturm at the Koenig Pilsener Arena, in Oberhausen, Germany.
Sturm was outworked the entire fight, and looked shot fighter in my view. I had Sturm winning all of three rounds, and losing the other nine. It was a very one-sided fight in my view, but I’m not one of the three judges that were scoring it.
Weights: Chudinov 168, Sturm 167
By Scott Gilfoid: WBA World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) weighed in today for his title defense this Saturday night against former world champion Felix Sturm (39-5-3, 18 KOs) at the Koenig Pilsener Arena, in Oberhausen, Germany. Chudinov weighed in at 168lbs. Sturm came in at 167lbs.
Chudinov, 28, already beat the 37-year-old Sturm by a 12 round split decision last year in May 2015 to claim the vacant WBA 168lb title in Frankfurt, Germany. The judges scored the fight 118-110 and 116-112 for Chudinov, and 116-112 for Sturm. There was nothing controversial about the fight, as Chudinov outworked Sturm for the entire 12 rounds and gave him a real beating. Sturm appealed the decision with the World Boxing Association, which is why we’re seeing a rematch.
Fedor Chudinov vs. Felix Sturm rematch on February 20
By Tim Fletcher: The 37-year-old former IBF/WBA/WBO middleweight champion Felix Sturm (39-5-3, 18 KOs) will be getting a rematch against WBA Super World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) in eight days from now on February 20 at the Koenig Pilsener Arena, Oberhausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.
Sturm was beaten by Chudinov by a 12 round split decision last year in May. However, Sturm appealed the decision to the World Boxing Association and has been given a rematch.
Sturm will need to be a lot more active in the rematch if he wants to beat the 28-year-old Chudinov because he was badly outworked in the fight. There was nothing controversial about the decision. Chudinov clearly did more than Sturm and was the busier fighter.
Felix Sturm challenges Fedor Chudinov on February 20 in Germany
By Scott Gilfoid: 36-year-old former IBF/WBA/WBO 160lb champion Felix Sturm (39-5-3, 18 KOs) will be facing WBA World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) in a rematch in two months from now on February 20 at the Koenig Pilsener Arena, in Oberhausen, Germany.
Sturm has not fought since losing by a 12 round split decision to Chudinov last May in a fight in Frankfurt, Germany. Sturm appealed the decision with the WBA and was granted a rematch against the 28-year-old Russian Chudinov.
Sturm’s career has not gone too well as of late, and it is difficult to figure out why the World Boxing Association is letting him get another shot at a title at all at this point. Sturm has not won a fight in two years since beating Darren Barker in 2013.
Buglioni: I’ll be back!
By Scott Gilfoid: After losing a bitterly disappointing 12 round unanimous decision loss to WBA “regular” super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) last Saturday night in a mostly one-sided contest at the SSE Wembley Arena in London, UK, #4 WBA Frank Buglioni (17-2-1, 13 KOs) is vowing that he’ll come back from the loss.
