Andre Dirrell willing to travel to UK for DeGale rematch

dirrell6666By Scott Gilfoid: More than anything right now, top five ranked 168lb contender Andre Dirrell (24-2, 16 KOs) wants a rematch against IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) so that he can avenge his very, very close and some say controversial 12 round unanimous decision loss that he suffered on May 23rd last month in Boston, Mass.

Dirrell says he’s willing to travel to the UK in order to face DeGale again. In a show of class, Dirrell says he’d be willing to give DeGale a rematch straightaway if it were him that lost the fight and wanted a rematch instead of the other way around.

Andre Dirrell inserts himself into the DeGale equation, wants rematch

dirrell55665By Scott Gilfoid: Well, Andre Dirrell (24-2, 16 KOs) isn’t taking his recent loss to James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) lying down. Dirrell wants his rematch and he’s coming after the 29-year-old DeGale to try and get it.

Dirrell was recently beaten by DeGale by what Dirrell and some other boxing fans feel was a controversial decision. As such, Dirrell wants a chance to avenge his loss by getting a rematch against DeGale as soon as possible.

Dirrell says he’s even more hungry now after the loss, and he’s already working hard in the gym to get in even better shape so that he can get DeGale in the ring and whip him.

Dirrell willing to fight DeGale in England to avenge loss

dirrell55665By Scott Gilfoid: Andre Dirrell (24-2, 16 KOs) still doesn’t believe that he lost the fight last Saturday night to James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) in their fight on Premier Boxing Champions, but Dirrell is still willing to travel to England for a rematch so that he can avenge the loss.

Dirrell understands how it goes. He technically lost the fight, and he’s willing to travel to the UK to fight DeGale on his own home turf if he has to in order to get his rematch with the 29-year-old IBF super middleweight champion. The main thing is, Dirrell wants a chance at the IBF belt that he feels should rightfully be his.

James DeGale in need of a new trainer?

1-_MG_1857By By Jordan Davies: First off I would like to congratulate James DeGale on winning the IBF Super middleweight world championship against Andre Dirrell in his own backyard by way of decision (117-109, 114-112 twice respectively) last Saturday night in Boston, Mass.

DeGale was up on the scorecards early in the fight scoring two knockdowns in the 2nd round and seemed to be too much for the American could handle. However, it seemed he decided to coast to a decision mid way through the fight by not engaging instead frustrating Dirrell by retreating onto the back foot.

James DeGale: He’s got the plaudits, now he needs the profit

degale669999By Robbie Bannatyne: “I could retire tomorrow and be happy,” said James DeGale “but the problem is haven’t made enough money from boxing yet”. They say money is the route of all evil, but for British boxing fans money will be the route to some massive fights in the super middleweight in the near future.

De Gale has spent most of his professional career in the wilderness under previous promoter Wayne Hennessey, having to suffer the ignominy of slugging it out in local shopping centers at times.

James DeGale moves to No.3 in Ring Magazine ratings

1-_MG_1314By Scott Gilfoid: Ring Magazine has elevated newly crowned IBF super middleweight James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) to No.3 in their 168lb rankings after his narrow and controversial 12 round unanimous win over Andre Dirrell (24-2, 16 KOs) last Saturday night at the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

DeGale is ranked below No.2 Arthur Abraham and No.1 Carl Froch. There currently isn’t a Ring Magazine champion at this moment due to Andre Ward having been inactive for over one year due to promotional problems, otherwise he’d likely be the champion.

DeGale says he’s ready for any 168lb fighter in the division

_MG_2076(Photo credit: Suzanne Teresa/Premier Boxing Champions) By Scott Gilfoid: It appears that James DeGale’s victory over Andre Dirrell (24-2, 16 KOs) has planted some ideas into his head because DeGale is now talking about being ready to take on any top super middleweight in the division.

DeGale might want to start with giving Dirrell a rematch because his victory over the American fighter left more questions than answers, and it’ll look bad if DeGale walks away from the fight as if he won the fight by a clear decision.

It definitely wasn’t a clear cut win in my view, and in the view of a lot of fans that witnessed the fight. DeGale won the vacant IBF 168lb title with his “win” over Dirrell. With the win, it now makes DeGale responsible for defending the strap. When you take Dirrell out of the equation, the IBF’s ranking is filled with fodder opposition.
