Darleys Perez looking for early KO of Anthony Crolla tonight

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: WBA World lightweight champion Darleys Perez (32-1-1, 20 KOs) says he’ll be looking for an early knockout tonight in his rematch against #9 WBA Anthony Crolla (29-4-3, 11 KOs) at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Perez has already said that he doesn’t want the judges to have any say so in what happens in the ring like last time he fought the 28-year-old Crolla last July.

Perez had to settle for a 12 round draw in that fight. However, it wasn’t the judges that cost the 32-year-old Perez the victory; it was the referee Howard Foster. He took off two points from Perez in the 11th and 12th rounds of the contest for low blows, and that pretty much saved Crolla from losing the fight.

Crolla expects Darleys Perez to start fast on Saturday

crolla2(Anthony Crolla seen here pulling down on Darleys Perez’s head in the 12th round, resulting in Perez throwing a low blow that cost him a point) By Scott Gilfoid: #10 WBA fringe contender Anthony Crolla (29-4-3, 11 KOs) will be getting a second bite out of the apple this Saturday night against WBA World lightweight champion Darleys Perez (32-1-1, 20 KOs) in their rematch on 11/21 from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

Crolla, 28, was basically saved from defeat last July when referee Howard John Foster took points away from Perez in consecutive rounds in the 11th and 12th rounds for throwing punches that strayed a bit low. The fight was then scored as a draw. However, Crolla was very, very lucky those points were deducted from Perez, because a lot of referees would have let that slide, especially in the 12th round, when Crolla clearly pulled Perez’s head down as he was throwing a punch, causing him to land a shot low. Instead of the World Boxing Association ruling that the referee had blown a call in the 12th round on the low blow, they ordered a rematch with Crolla and Perez.

Crolla dreams of being world champion

crolla2By Scott Gilfoid: #9 WBC Anthony Crolla (29-4-3, 11 KOs) is really looking forward to his rematch against WBA World lightweight champion Darleys Perez (32-1-1, 20 KOs) in 12 days from now on November 21st at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Crolla, 28, says he dreams of being a world champion.

The fact that Crolla is getting a second chance at fighting Perez for a world title has to be considered a gift by the World Boxing Association, who ordered a rematch between them after the two fighters fought to a 12 round draw last July. Having seen the Perez-Crolla fight, Crolla really lucked out in getting a draw because he would have lost the fight if the referee working the fight Howard John Foster hasn’t taken points off from Perez in the 11th and 12 rounds of the fight.

Froch: Broner can’t back it up in the ring

Image: Froch: Broner can’t back it up in the ringBy Scott Gilfoid: Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch thinks that former three division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) is a Floyd Mayweather Jr. imitator who can’t back it up in the ring.

Froch sees Broner as being little more than a clown at best, and he’s not impressed with him as a fighter. Froch doesn’t believe that the talented 26-year-old Broner is the real deal. You can’t argue with the success that this young talent has had.
