Crolla-Linares: Hearn wants rematch for Anthony

crolla56

By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says he’s going to get a rematch for his fighter Anthony Crolla (31-5-3, 13 KOs) against Jorge Linares (41-3, 27 KOs) for him to try and avenge his 12 round unanimous decision loss from last Saturday night at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Crolla lost the fight by the scores 115-114, 115-113 and 117-111.

Crolla lost his World Boxing Association lightweight title in the fight. Fortunately for him, he had a rematch clause in the contract. Even without a rematch clause, Crolla would have an excellent chance of getting a rematch with Linares, because the Tokyo based fighter says he want to come back to fight in the UK, because he likes to fight there due to the large crowds and excitement.

Crolla vs. Linares: Froch picks Anthony by stoppage

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: Despite WBA World lightweight champion Anthony Crolla facing the arguably more talented fighter than himself in Jorge Linares tonight, Carl Froch is going out on the limb by selecting Crolla to win. Froch thinks Crolla will be knocking the 31-year-old Linares out when the two of them get inside the ring at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

Just so boxing fans know, Crolla (31-4-3, 13 KOs) has a knockout percentage of 34%, which is not very high. If you’re going to predict a victory, history would show that Crolla is not likely to win by a knockout. I’m just saying.

Crolla-Linares to fight for Ring belt

crolla86

By Allan Fox: WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla and Jorge Linares will be fighting this Saturday night for the Ring Magazine lightweight belt at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Crolla, 29, covets the Ring title, as he would like to add the belt to his collection.

It won’t be easy for Crolla to win the title, because he’s facing what could be the best opponent of his career. Linares isn’t a big slugger like Derry Mathews or Ismael Barroso, but he’s got great boxing skills that are second to none.

Crolla vs. Linares official weights

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP8etSVCDBU

By Scott Gilfoid: Anthony Crolla (31-4-3, 13 KOs) successfully weighed in on Friday in coming in at 134.3 pounds for his title defense against Jorge Linares (40-3, 27 K0s) for their fight on Saturday night at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Linares, 31, weighed in at 134.2lbs.

The one thing that jumped at me in looking at the two fighters was how painfully thin Linares looked. He looks like he had problems drying out to make weight. We’ll see if Linares fades on Saturday night when the match goes into the second half. As thin and unhealthy as Linares looked today at the weigh-in, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t gas out in the fight in the later rounds.

Crolla-Linares: Gallagher expects Anthony to win

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: Trainer Joe Gallagher thinks the combination of the crowd noise and the self-belief of WBA lightweight champion Anthony “Million Dollar” Crolla (31-4-3, 13 KOs) will help guide him to victory against former three division world champion Jorge Linares (40-3, 27 KOs) on Saturday night on September 24 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

Gallagher thinks Crolla is heading towards superstardom if he can get past Linares despite the fact that there are arguably MUCH better fighters in the lightweight division than Linares or Crolla. For starters, you’ve got Mikey Garcia. He’s got one-punch power.

Crolla: Beating Linares will turn me into a superstar

.

By Scott Gilfoid: WBA World lightweight champion Anthon Crolla seems to be under the illusion that he’ll be transformed into a superstar overnight if he can beat 31-year-old Jorge Linares in their fight this Saturday night at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Linares has been beaten before on several occasions, and the fighters that beat him weren’t turned into superstars. As such, I think Crolla’s pipe dream of him becoming a huge star in the boxing world after beating Linares is not going to happen, especially if the decision is one of those hometown variety decision wins.

Crolla vs. Linares: Hatton picks Anthony to win

crolla-2

By Scott Gilfoid: Ricky Hatton is picking WBA World lightweight champion Anthony Crolla (31-4-3, 13 KOs) to successfully defend his WBA title on Saturday night against challenger Jorge Linares (40-3, 27 KOs) at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Hatton doesn’t really say why he thinks the 29-year-old Crolla will win the fight other than him being a good body puncher.

Of course, the most obvious reason why you have to go with Crolla as the winner is because the fight is taking place in the UK. Having seen Crolla’s first fight against Darleys Perez, and his fights against Derry Mathews, and Gavin Rees, I think Crolla has been very, very lucky when it comes to the scoring of his fights. I had Crolla losing to Perez in their first fight, even with the referee taking points off from Perez in consecutive rounds in the 11th and 12th rounds. In my scoring, I had Crolla losing his second fight against Derry Mathews and in his fight against Gavin Rees.

Crolla vs. Linares: Mitchell expects Anthony to win

linares100

By Scott Gilfoid: Kevin Mitchell found out the hard way how talented the 31-year-old Jorge Linares (40-3, 27 KOs) is, and now it’s Anthony Crolla’s turn when the two of them face each other this Saturday night on September 24 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Linares, a former three division world champion, will be challenging the 29-year-old Crolla (31-4-3, 13 KOs) for his World Boxing Association lightweight title.

Mitchell thinks Linares is past it somewhat in terms of his skills at this point in his career. Linares has had some injury problems that led to him being stripped of his WBC lightweight title recently due to inactivity. Mitchell believes that the inactivity and injuries is a sign that Linares is slipping. I don’t know. When I see other fighters like Kell Brook getting injured left and right in recent years, it suggests to me that injuries are a part of the sport rather than a sign that a fighter is slipping.

Linares plans on wrecking Crolla’s run

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: The HIGHLY talented former three division world champion Jorge Linares (40-3, 27 KOs) plans on sending WBA World lightweight champion Anthony “Million Dollar” Crolla (31-4-3, 13 KOs) down to defeat this month in 10 days from now on September 24 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Linares, 31, says he’s going to ruin the 29-year-old Crolla’s brief title run as the World Boxing Association 135lb champion, and there is absolutely nothing his fans are going to be able to do about it on the night. Just last year, Linares came over to the UK and whipped Kevin Mitchell in front of his own fans in stopping him in the 10th round in London, and now it’s Crolla’s turn to get some of the same bitter medicine shoved down his throat.
