However, he Lewkowcicz points out that the weight for the fight is an issue for Cotto because he can’t get down to 147lbs without losing his power in the process, which would give Pacquiao a huge advantage in this fight. Cotto fights at 154 and needs the Pacquiao fight to take place at 150lbs for him to keep his power and not be drained.

Supposedly there won’t be any catchweight for this fight, meaning that Cotto would be forced to come all the way down to 147lbs if he wants the fight. Pacquiao won’t be meeting him half way (150lbs), even though Cotto fought Pacquiao at a catchweight of 145lbs that benefited Pacquiao in 2009 when Cotto was the WBO champion.
