By Chris Williams: If Miguel Cotto wants the big money rematch with Manny Pacquiao that he’s been after since getting thrashed by him in 2009, Cotto will likely have to play it by Pacquiao’s rules by coming all the way down to 147lbs rather than the Filipino star agreeing to fight him at a catchweight like he did the last time the two fighters fought.

Weight an issue for Cotto-Pacquiao fight
By Allen Fox: According to article from Chris Robinson at examiner.com, promoter/advisor Sampson Lewkowicz is saying that Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto IS going to be the next fight for both of them.
However, he Lewkowcicz points out that the weight for the fight is an issue for Cotto because he can’t get down to 147lbs without losing his power in the process, which would give Pacquiao a huge advantage in this fight. Cotto fights at 154 and needs the Pacquiao fight to take place at 150lbs for him to keep his power and not be drained.
Cotto has agreed to terms for Pacquiao fight for June 9th
Cotto could be next for Pacquiao
By Dan Ambrose: Michael Marley of examiner.com sees Miguel Cotto being the next opponent for Manny Pacquiao to fight on June 9th, as the negotiations between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. haven’t gone beyond Mayweather contacting Pacquiao by the telephone to tell him he’s not getting a 50-50 deal. Supposedly there won’t be any catchweight for this fight, meaning that Cotto would be forced to come all the way down to 147lbs if he wants the fight. Pacquiao won’t be meeting him half way (150lbs), even though Cotto fought Pacquiao at a catchweight of 145lbs that benefited Pacquiao in 2009 when Cotto was the WBO champion.

Roach doesn’t want to see Cotto take another beating from Pacquiao
By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Freddie Roach doesn’t want to see WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) beat up on Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30 KO’s) again and is really hoping that Bob Arum selects a different opponent for Pacquiao’s next fight in June rather than having Cotto get another shot.

Cotto-Pacquiao = A fight only their loyal patriotic fans would love
By Dan Ambrose: It’s still stunned that Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30 KO’s) is rumored to be the guy that gets picked by Bob Arum to fight WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) on June 9th instead of Floyd Mayweather Jr. or someone who at least boxing fans haven’t seen Pacquiao in with before.
