Cotto’s legacy to be defined by tonight’s rematch with Margarito
By Dan Ambrose: There is more to tonight’s fight than just the outcome of who wins and loses in the Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito II grudge match, there is also Cotto’s legacy that will be largely defined by how he does in this fight. Although Cotto is a huge hero back home in Peurto Rico among his loyal boxing fans, his career hasn’t been a very steady one. Cotto and Margarito both expected to weigh over 160 lbs tonight
By Allen Fox: Both Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito are expected to weigh slightly over 160 pounds by the time they step inside the ring tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York for their grudge match. While some boxing fans may immediately dismiss the weight and see it as a meaningless statistic, you have to remember that Cotto is only 5’7″ and not a strapping six footer. Packing that kind of weight on a small frame like Cotto’s means only one thing – he’s going to have problems if the fight goes past the 6th round.
Chavez Sr. sees Margarito beating Cotto tonight
By Dan Ambrose: Boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. chimed in on his views for tonight’s huge fight between Antonio Margarito and WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Margarito, 5’11”, will be sporting a four inch height advantage over the 5’7″ Cotto and a 6 inch reach advantage to go along with being more willing to sacrifice his body to win.
