Mayweather won’t be fighting Conor McGregor in September

floyd93

By Allan Fox: If Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to fight in September this year, he’s going to need to find another opponent rather than trying to fight Conor McGregor. The reason for that is McGregor is now scheduled to fight Nate Diaz in a rematch in UFC 202 on August 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

McGregor won’t be able to fight Diaz in August and then turn around and face Mayweather in September. That doesn’t mean that McGregor can’t fight Mayweather this year, because it’s possible that the fight can always take place in December if Mayweather wants the fight bad enough.

Mayweather-McGregor: History’s most lucrative freak show?

Floyd Mayweather Jr

By Adam Godfrey: In Victorian times the general public may have been entertained by such novelties as a bearded lady, or a man with a head resembling that of an elephant. There was nothing admirable or scientific about the desire to see these oddities, merely pure, unadulterated shock and awe that such a thing could exist in the first place.

People would often be horrified what was presented to them, but would pay good money to come back a second time for an equally fascinated gawp. These kind of freak shows are thankfully less common nowadays, although two gentlemen who go by the name of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are seemingly intent on bringing something equally as vacuous and meaningless to the masses.

By Eric Baldwin: Trainer Freddie Roach says UFC fighter Conor McGregor got beat up a little bit while sparring at Wildcard West by a couple of guys. One of them was Roach’s fighter South African Chris Van Heerden. McGregor is likely going to be facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. very soon.

Mayweather said so himself according to Roach. Mayweather told Roach that he can make a lot of money if he works as McGregor’s trainer for this fight because it’s going to be a fight that will be taking place.

Saunders: McGregor should fight me, then Mayweather

saunders97

By Scott Gilfoid: WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12 KOs) says he’s not in favor of Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting UFC champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match. Saunders thinks it’s bad for the sport, and a fight in which McGregor could potentially get hurt by Mayweather due to his inexperience in boxing.

Saunders’s idea is for McGregor to earn the fight against Mayweather by facing him first, and if McGregor wins, then he can move forward to face Mayweather for a big money fight. It sounds like a nice pipe dream, doesn’t it? The problem with that idea is that McGregor will likely never consider it even for a fraction of a second. I mean, there’s no question in my mind that Saunders would whip the novice McGregor in a boxing match. But once Saunders finished smashng McGregor into oblivion, Mayweather couldn’t fight McGregor any longer. Who would want to see a Mayweather-McGregor fight then? Saunders will spoiled the mismatch for Mayweather by beating his unskilled opponent before he could do it.

Mayweather wants Roach to train McGregor

roach55

By Allan Fox: In a strange move, Floyd Mayweather Jr. reportedly told trainer Freddie Roach to agree to train UFC fighter Conor McGregor if he’s asked by him to train him for their proposed fight. It’s unknown why Mayweather wants Roach to train the 27-year-old McGregor for a fight between them.

It could be that Mayweather might think having Roach’s name associated with McGregor could help pump up interest in the Mayweather-McGregor fight. It sounds good if the media can mention Roach as the trainer for McGregor rather than some obscure boxing trainer or an MMA trainer with little knowledge of the sport.

floyd9

By Jeff Aranow: Many boxing fans are hoping that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) doesn’t wind up facing MMA fighter Conor McGregor (0-0) this year or ever in a boxing match due to the fight potentially hurting the sport because of it being such a gross mismatch.

Floyd posts McGregor vs. Mayweather PPV fight poster on Instagram

mcgregor4

By Allan Fox: In what has to be interpreted as a huge hint by Floyd Mayweather Jr. that he plans on going through with his circus fight against MMA fighter Conor McGregor, Mayweather posted a fight poster of him and McGregor on his Instagram last night. Mayweather is calling it a Mayweather vs. McGregor fight on pay-per-view.

Mayweather wouldn’t have posted this Instragram picture if he wasn’t interested in fighting the 27-year-old McGregor, who has never fought in a boxing match in his life. The closest thing to a boxing match for McGregor was his recent sparring session with former IBO welterweight champion Chris Van Heerden, which McGregor was schooled badly in.

McGregor would have a chance against Mayweather

floyd66

By Jeff Aranow: Boxer Chris Van Heerden is giving UFC champion Conor McGregor a puncher’s chance against Floyd Mayweather Jr. if the two of them face each other this year on September 17. It’s a fight that Mayweather wants, and he believes it can bring in as many PPV buys as his fight against Manny Pacquiao last year.

Van Heerden had the opportunity to spar the 27-year-old McGregor recently. They used big 16oz gloves, and Van Heerden was able to get a pretty good idea of how well McGregor will do against Mayweather.

Will Mayweather-McGregor hurt boxing?

floyd9

By Allan Fox: There is a great deal of talk around the internet about a potential fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor. The latest news rumors have Mayweather fighting McGregor on September 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada. If this fight does happen, it will take place in a boxing ring under the rules of the sport.

McGregor, who clearly has only rudimentary knowledge of the sport, will be hopelessly lost when the punches start flying. With both fighters wanting $100 million each minimum, the cost of the fight will almost surely be $100 on PPV. That’s a lot of money for fans to pay for a fight that could very well turn out to be a sick mismatch.

McGregor wants $100M for Mayweather fight

mcgregor4

By Jeff Aranow: Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to have to either look for another opponent for his next fight or he’ll need to take a much smaller payday than the one he’d like to take. Mayweather says his asking price is $100 million for his next fight, and he’s not been shy about saying he’d like to fight UFC star Conor McGregor. However, for Mayweather to get the $100 million that he wants for his next fight, McGregor would need to take a much smaller payday despite him supplying many of his loyal fans from his MMA sport.

McGregor says he also wants $100 million. This means that Mayweather would need to take a considerable pay cut from nine-figures that he wants for his fights because it won’t be possible for him and the 27-year-old McGregor to both get nine figures.
