Chisora’s TKO win over Malik Scott will stand

chisora101By Scott Gilfoid: The British Boxing Board of Control has decided not to review the July 20th fight between Britain’s Dereck Chisora vs. Malik Scott despite the appeal made by Scott’s promoter due to the referee halting the fight on the count of 9 instead of the count 10 in the 6th round, according to Dan Rafael.

Robert Smith, the general secretary of the BBB of C, says that in British rules a fighter is still considered down even if he’s rising at the count of 9. They still see him as being down.

Malik Scott’s team looking for loss to Chisora changed to “No Contest”

chisora500By Scott Gilfoid: Dan Goosen, the promoter for American heavyweight Malik Scott (35-1-1, 12 KO’s), is appealing to the British Board of Control to have Scott’s 6th round knockout loss to Britain’s Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11 KO’s) overturned and changed to a “No contest” due to the fight being ruled a knockout instead of a technical knockout.

For a fight to be ruled a knockout, a full 10 count has to be administered. In this case, Goosen saw referee Phil Edwards make a blunder by stopping the fight on a 9 count instead of a 10 count, as Scott was on his feet at the count of 9.

Byrd: Chisora has a question mark next to his win over Malik Scott

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: Former heavyweight world champion Chris Byrd thinks the referee Phil Edwards did a “horrible” job of refereeing the Dereck Chisora vs. Malik Scott fight last Saturday night in the UK, and Byrd feels that a question mark is now hanging over Chisora’s win due to the referee stopping the fight in the 6th round at the count of 9 after Scott had been knocked down.

Chisora not getting much credit for win over Malik Scott

chisora500By Scott Gilfoid: Referee Phil Edwards’ controversial stoppage of the Dereck Chisora vs. Malik Scott fight last night in the 6th round has left a sour taste in the mouth of many boxing fans, and it’s also had the end result of keeping the 29-year-old Chisora for getting the credit that he might otherwise have received.

Edwards stopped the fight at the count of 9 last Saturday night in the 6th, just as Scott was getting up after being knocked down. It looked like Edwards jumped ahead 1 number in his count and mistook 9 for being 10.

No one is perfect, but it definitely hurt Chisora because Scott wasn’t hurt at the time and he was taking a knee after having been brained by a rabbit punch to the back of the head, which Edwards should have seen and waived off the knockdown.

Dereck Chisora W TKO 6 Malik Scott: Review

By Peter Wells (twitter- @boxingbrains): When discussing controversy in boxing, 90% of the time its the judges at ringside who are at fault, but last night at Wembley Arena it was the 3rd man inside the ring that made the crucial error. After Scott was sent to the canvas from a right hand, the American shook it off looked to his corner and waited for the signal to rise.

Chisora beats Scott in controversial stoppage

chisora102By Scott Gilfoid: In a highly questionable stoppage, Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11 KO’s) stopped American Malik Scott (35-1-1, 12 KO’s) by a 6th round TKO on Saturday night at the Wembley Arena, in London, UK.

Scott, 32, was knocked down with a rabbit punch in the 6th round. Scott stayed on his knees until the referee counted to 9, at the point Scott got up and the referee halted the fight without even getting to the 10 count.

Even the local Brits didn’t like the stoppage, as they saw the referee holding up 9 fingers just as Scott rose to his feet. At that point the referee halted the fight. It was just very strange in a classic blow it move.

Scott to beat Chisora by lopsided decision – Prediction

scott36By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10 KO’s) is in really tough tonight against unbeaten American Malik Scotto (35-0-1, 12 KO’s) at the Wembley Arena in London, UK. This is really not a good fight for Chisora. Scott has way too much boxing skills going for him to be beaten by a short, rounded fighter like the 6’1”, 242 lbs.

Chisora. Scott likes to move a lot, and he’s not like one of the typical opponents that Chisora has beaten in the past. I see this fight going badly for Chisora, and I can’t see him winning more than one or two rounds at best, and even then I think it’s going to be more of a situation where he’s given rounds that arguably should have been given to Scott.

Derek Chisora vs Malik Scott Preview

chisora8By Peter Wells (twitter- @boxingbrains): The ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ story continues for Derek ‘DelBoy’ Chisora tonight as the Londoner known more for his out of the ring madness than his in the ring serenity, takes on unbeaten heavyweight prospect Malik Scott.

Three defeats in a row may have broken the sanest of fighters, but Chisora’s dual personality has ensured through it all he’s remained calm. Like Nate Robinson on the basketball court, Chisora never lacks self confidence and always insists to himself that he is on fire, no matter how bad things get.

While Chisora’s career has been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride, Malik Scott’s better resembles that of a merry-go-round. Apart from one draw on his record – when Scott looked the clear winner – in his last bout, the Philadelphian boxer has had everything go his way – albeit against very poor opposition.
