De La Hoya is obviously happy, as now Canelo can show the boxing fans that he’s not a drug cheat like many of them think he is following his two positive tests for clenbuterol last February.

This is excellent news for fans that are hoping to see Canelo face middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in a rematch on September 15, because without the Mexican star signing up for the drug testing, he likely wouldn’t have gotten the fight.

It’s thought by some that the WBC chose to remove the 27-year-old Canelo, who is currently suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for clenbuterol, because he hasn’t agreed to sign with their Clean Boxing Program.
