Chavez Jr. says he ate very little in the last 2 weeks before the Canelo fight so that he could get down to the 164.5 pound catchweight.

Chavez Jr. fought like he was just there to survive against Canelo instead of there to win. Chavez Sr. tried to encourage the 30-year-old Chavez Jr. to let his hands go and give him more punches per round, but he couldn’t or wouldn’t do it against Canelo.

According to Dan Rafael, he’s hearing from a source the Canelo vs. Golovkin fight will bring in a minimum of 1 million buys on HBO PPV. This is great news for boxing because it means that Canelo’s next fight against Gennady “GGG Golovkin on September 16 will bring in MONSTROUS numbers on HBO PPV.

He wants Canelo (49-1-1, 34 KOs) to realize that he won’t have Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) when he gets inside the ring with Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) in their fight on HBO PPV in four months from now. By Jeff Aranow: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) says he closed the chapter on the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) after giving him a one-sided thrashing last Saturday night in their fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was never going to be a real rivalry though, because Chavez Jr. is not tier fighter in 2017. The World Boxing Council has Chavez Jr. rated in their top 15 at super middleweight, but he clearly is no longer a top fighter.
