Canelo won’t get the chance to throw to Trout’s body

canelo33(Photo credit: Trapp/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) isn’t much of a puncher when it comes to throwing head shots. His specialty is to throw body shots. If he’s got an opponent that stands directly in front of him without moving, Canelo is incredibly dangerous with body punching.

Canelo is like a mini Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. when it comes to throwing to the body. Unfortunately for him, Canelo is facing a modern fighter on April 20th in WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) that isn’t the type that just stands there foolishly letting his opponents throw punches to the body.

Canelo-Trout: Styles make fights and no guarantees in boxing

austin3By Gilbert Leal: First of all, this isn’t really an article. its just some guys opinion and prediction. Anyway, I’ll start by saying that this is boxing so nothing is for certain. Take Manny Pacquiao being knocked out in emphatic fashion by Juan Manuel Marquez for example. So all this certainty I have heard regarding this fight is kind of shocking and just leads me to believe that we have a lot of inexperienced fight fans here.

Now about the fighters; we all know WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) is very young and is still just a rising star who has only proven that, as of late, he does pretty well at beating decent, but still hand picked opponents as well as a couple crafty and experienced veterans one of which is definitely a future hall of famer. But he is strong with good fundamentals for boxing and a good eye for counter-punching since I would classify him as a boxer-puncher with an emphasis on puncher.

Trout: I’m going to take Canelo out of his game

Web-P3142242By Dan Ambrose: WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) says he’s going to take WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) out of his element on April 20th and expose him in their fight at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas.

Trout is going to force Canelo to use his wheels in this fight, and make him move more than he ever has before. If you’ve looked at Canelo’s previous fights you’ll see that he’s a pure plodder and can’t move well at all around the ring.

Trout said to Fightnews.com “I don’t think he has his man strength yet. I will impose my will on him. I am going to take him out of his comfort level…I have the tools with my jab and foot work.”

Trout: The crowd can’t help Canelo in the ring on April 20th

austin2By Dan Ambrose: WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) believes WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) is going to be in deep, deep trouble on April 20th when they meet up in what could be a nearly packed Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Already close to 30,000 tickets have been sold for the fight, and most of them no doubt are Canelo’s loyal fans. You can guess that these same fans will be making themselves heard on April 20th as they attempt to cheer the 22-year-old Canelo on to victory.

Canelo-Trout: Less than 2,300 tickets remaining for April 20th fight

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABy Dan Ambrose: It looks like Golden Boy Promotions and the staff at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas are going to need to restructure the stadium because there reportedly is less than 2,300 tickets remaining for the April 20th unification bout between WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) and WBA champ Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s).

Initially they configured the 72,000 Alamodome stadium to fit 30,000 boxing fans for the Canelo-Trout fight, but when 20,000 tickets were quickly scooped up by eager fans jumping at the chance to purchase the low cost $10 and $20 tickets, they quickly restructured the stadium to fit 40,000 fans.

Trout: I’m glad the public forced Canelo to fight me

austin1(Photos: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) believes it was only through the boxing public’s help that he was able to land a unification fight against the fighter he’s dubbed Golden Boy Promotion’s “Golden Goose” WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) on April 20th at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Trout feels that Canelo wasn’t going to take the fight, and his promoters at Golden Boy certainly weren’t going to allow him to take the fight until the public pressure got to be so much that Canelo had to take the fight in order to not be seen as afraid.

Trout said to lscun.com “I’m glad the public was loud enough to force Canelo to put his fought down.”

Canelo must cut off the ring on Trout and force him into a brawl

SanAntonio_0U9C2265_send(Photo: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: In a lot of ways the April 20th fight between WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) and WBA champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) is a lot like the last September match-up between former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez.

Canelo is the same type of flat-footed brawler that Chavez Jr. is, and he’s facing the same problems that he experienced in dealing with a mobile fighter with excellent hand speed and boxing skills.

As we know already, Chavez Jr. was unable to cut off the ring often enough to be competitive with Martinez. Each time Chavez Jr. would attempt to trap Martinez and force him into a brawl, Martinez would effortlessly glide laterally to foil Chavez Jr.

Canelo-Trout: 20,000 tickets already sold; Alamodome will be configured for 40,000

SanAntonio_0U9C2603_send(Photo: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: Ticket sales for the April 20th fight between WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) and WBA champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) continue to be scooped up at an alarming rate for this fight at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

According to mysantonio.com, 20,000 tickets have already been purchased for the fight with still a little over one month to go. Alamodome, which holds 72,000, was previously reconfigured to hold 30,000, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, but with the tickets still moving at a fast pace, they’ve reconfigured it to hold 40,000.

If the ticket sales get near or surpass the 40,000 seats, you can bet they’re reconfigure it again by bumping it up to an even higher number.
