Broner will have 15 days to decide which title to keep if he beats Malignaggi

007MalignaggiandBronerwidecrowdIMG_0606(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: If Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) gets past WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) later tonight, he’ll have 15 days to make a decision about which of his titles – the WBC lightweight or WBA welterweight – to keep, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.

If Broner loses to Malignaggi, then he’ll still have his WBC lightweight title to fall back on. A loss to Malignaggi would be a huge blow to Broner’s career no doubt and a clear sign that he doesn’t have what it takes to fight against welterweights.

Broner: I don’t mind chasing Malignaggi

Paulie Malignaggi weighs in(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) is fully prepared to chase WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) around the ring tonight to get a stoppage victory at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Broner doesn’t see how Malignaggi will be able to escape from the ring to survive for 12 rounds.

Broner said to RingTV, “I have no problems chasing a cat. He really didn’t want to look at me [during the stare down at the weigh-in]. He don’t want any confrontations with me. I’ll exploit all his weaknesses…I knew I was going to stop him before I signed the contract.”

Atlas: Broner will be too strong for Malignaggi

014BronerandthegirlsIMG_9992(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: You have to admit that WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) has done a good job of talking up his fight tonight against challenger Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It’s just too bad that Broner will likely destroy the 32-year-old Malignaggi.

ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas is one of many people who see Broner as simply being too strong for the light hitting Malignaggi to beat.

Atlas said last night on ESPN “Paulie Malignaggi isn’t a puncher, and for people who think he has a chance in what would be a pretty significant upset, if they’re looking for him to be the bigger fighter, wrong.

Broner v Malignaggi tonight on Showtime from the Barclays Center

001BronerIMG_9973(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Stevie Ocallaghan: Tonight in Brooklyn, New York, Adrien Broner challenges Brooklyn’s own Pauli Malignaggi for his WBA welterweight belt. Probably the quietest thing about this matchup will be the actual fight itself. In saying that we have two technically gifted boxers facing each other.

I think this fight depends on Malignaggi. Can he keep up the pace and land quick combos while keeping his distance for the duration or have the legs two many miles on them and it’s just a matter of time before Broner catches up with him.

Adrien Broner vs. Paulie Malignaggi preview

Adrian Broner and Paulie Malignaggi(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Peter Wells (twitter @boxingbrains): Later tonight Paulie Malignaggi 32-4(7) and Adrien Broner 26-0(22) will finally take their differences into the ring, and sort matters out the way boxing intended. Whether you want to admit it or not, you are looking forward to this fight and whatever you say about the press conference trash talk, Broner and Malignaggi have sold this bout, and they’ve sold it well.

This brings me on to a point that I’d like to address. The media and some boxing fans alike, have brandished the trash talk from both fighters as “disgraceful”, “unsportsmanlike” and so on. The way it has been lamented makes it seem as though grown men cursing at one another and dishing out insults is something we never see. Broner and Malignaggi don’t like each other, and this is not the first time in boxing that pre-fight talk has become personal.

How will Broner handle Malignaggi’s movement?

006MalignaggiandBronerIMG_0010(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) is a clear favorite to defeat WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) on Saturday night, but there are still major questions that Broner will need to answer tomorrow night about how he’s going to try and handle Malignaggi’s movement in this fight.

This isn’t the first time in Malignaggi’s career that he’s faced an opponent with more power than him, because he’s arguably been the weaker fighter in most of his fights during.

Weights: Broner 146.8, Malignaggi 146.4

malignaggi432323By Jim Dower: WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) made weight today for his fight against challenger Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) tomorrow night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Looking drawn and thin, Malignaggi weighed in at 146.4 pounds. Broner looked a lot healthier in weighing in at a solid 146.8.

Malignaggi was really animated during the stare down with Broner, constantly talking and motioning for Broner to look him in the eyes. Broner turned away first and that’s when Malignaggi started getting really animated; thinking possibly that Broner was showing signs of fear. It looks like Malignaggi is trying to get an edge over Broner any way he can.

Broner: Lucas Matthysse is easy money; I’d make it look easy

001 Broner IMG_0252(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Allan Fox: Unbeaten Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) was asked about what his thoughts were about a fight against interim WBC light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32 KO’s) and Broner claimed it would be an easy fight for him if the fight gets made.

Broner said to thaboxingvoice, “That’s easy money. I’m not worried about no Lucas Matthysse; easy money. He would be tough, but I’d make it look easy.”

It would be an interesting if Golden Boy Promotions were to make that fight, but just by looking at the kinds of guys that Broner’s been facing with them, it doesn’t seem probable that they’d let him fight against Matthysse.
