Against Granados at 147, can Broner shine as he once did at 135?

By Gerardo Granados: This Saturday at the Cintas Center, Cincinnati, Ohio, former multiple division titlists Adrien “The Problem” Broner will fight against Adrian “El Tigre” Granados. After having contracted 142 pounds for this bout, Broner´s team asked to move the weight limit up to 147, which might not surprise many fight fans, but to be honest I think that Broner is what he is and to discipline him might require an old school trainer.

I am not praising Broner for again not making the contracted weight but he is more of an old-fashioned fighter that enjoys fame and money than a modern era athlete boxer.

By Jim Dower: Former four division world champion Adrien Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) says he’s totally prepared for anything his opponent Adrian Granados brings to the ring on Saturday night on February 18 at the Cintas Center at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Broner-Granados will be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Broner still wants to become a big star in the boxing world, but he can’t let himself take anymore defeats like the ones he experienced against Marcos Maidana and Shawn Porter. Broner needs to get serious with his career, and he’s got to change the way he fights.

By Jeff Aranow: Adrien Broner had the previously agreed upon catch-weight limit of 142 pounds increased 5lbs to 147lbs for his fight this Saturday night on February 18 against Adrian Granados. Broner reportedly is going to be able to make the 147lb limit, which is good news for the boxing fans.

It would have looked really bad if Broner, 27, needed his weight to be increased another 5 pounds to 152 for the fight.

Adrien Broner, Eric Hunter and Boxing’s mercurial talents

By Henry Hunt: In March of last year, in round 2 of their IBF featherweight world title fight Philadelphia native Eric Hunter countered a miss from Lee Selby with a flashing left to the Jaw. Selby went down, and, for a moment it seemed as though we might be seeing someone a bit special.

A rapid switch hitter, with sharp hands and a mercurial style that is quite brilliant when in full flow, Hunter’s journey through the ranks had been twice disrupted by disqualifications and a loss to someone called Carlos Vinan.

Broner vs Granados: No Such Thing as a Tune-Up

Image: Broner vs Granados: No Such Thing as a Tune-Up

By Joseph Hirsch: It was inevitable that Adrien Broner would initially draw comparison to Floyd Mayweather. From his use of the “Philly Shell” defense style to his flamboyant trash-talking, the two had quite a bit in common.

But Floyd was a much more defensive-minded fighter than Broner, a consummate counter-puncher who didn’t engage in a war unless he absolutely had to. Broner has great defense, but he is also at heart a more aggressive fighter than Floyd Mayweather. Broner also has a couple of official losses on his record, unlike Mayweather.

Floyd is retired now, which means Broner is no longer laboring in Money Mayweather’s shadow. The main question remaining then is where does Broner go from here?

By Jeff Aranow: Despite having suffered two losses in his last seven fights, Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) still believes he has the talent to take over boxing and become a big star.

That was his plan before beaten by Marcos Maidana and Shawn Porter. Those defeats have been an eye opener for Broner and for the fans, which see him as a guy with a lot of holes in his game.
