Brian Rose vs. Carson Jones 2 on August 1st

rose22By Scott Gilfoid: Former world title challenger Brian Rose (26-3-1, 8 KOs) will pretty much be putting his career on the line in a little over a week from now when he faces high level journeyman Carson Jones (37-10-3, 27 KOs) on August 1st in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Craven Park Stadium, Hull, Yorkshire, UK.

I hate to say it but I think this could be the end for Rose if he gets royally whipped and blasted out to smithereens by Jones. There’s not much you can do for Rose if he can’t even beat Jones, is there? Rose seems to have a chin problem that is now haunting him, and I suspect Jones will take advantage of that problem on August 1st by knocking Rose clean out.

Carson Jones destroys Brian Rose in 1st round TKO

By Scott Gilfoid: Just as I suspected, American journeyman Carson Jones (37-10-3, 27 KOs) totally annihilated the hapless junior middleweight Brian Rose (26-3-1, 8 KOs) in blasting him out in just one round on Saturday night in their fight for the vacant WBC International super welterweight title at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Brian Rose battles Carson Jones this Saturday, February 14th

rose4By Gav Duthie: If you can tear yourself away from the wife for 12 rounds on Saturday night there is an intriguing light middleweight match up taking place between outside contenders Brian Rose 26-2-1 (8) and Carson Jones 36-10-3 (26). Rose comes in off the back of a spirited performance against champion Demetrius Andrade where he was completely outclassed. Jones retired late last year only to make a u-turn one week later. Both fighters are having one last crack at the big time and Rose has already admitted he will retire if he loses.

Carson Jones

I was disappointed when Jones decided to retire. I wrote a piece on it and predictably there wasn’t a huge amount of interest as he isn’t a huge name.  My feeling is though guys like him have a huge role in the sport as gatekeeper to the top level. Understandably he wants to be a world champion rather than a stepping stone.

Ricky Burns vs. Alexandre Lepelley and Brian Rose vs. Ignacio Lucero Fraga this Saturday, October 4th

rose123By Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday night, former WBO lightweight champ Ricky Burns (36-4-1, 11 KOs) fights Alexandre Lepelley (17-1-1, 3 KOs) at the First Direct Arena, Leeds, Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Also on the card, former world title challenger Brian Rose (25-2-1, 7 KOs) will be fighting Argentinian Ignacio Lucero Fraga (11-7-3, 5 KOs).

Both of these fights will be tune-ups for Burns and Rose, as they’ve been put in with weak opposition to ensure that they get the victories over their opposition. It’s come to that because both Burns and Rose are coming off of losses.

Hearn: Brian Rose will be back

rose123By Scott Gilfoid: Promoter Eddie Hearn thinks that his fighter #1 WBO Brian Rose (25-2-1, 7 KO’s) will learn from his defeat at the hands of WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KO’s) and return back to the top in the future.

Rose was knocked down twice by Andrade last night and stopped on his feet in the 7th round in their fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Rose had talked about having earned his No.1 ranking and his title shot.

Rose had said that he wasn’t impressed with Andrade beforehand and that it was him with all the pressure on his shoulder. But unfortunately for Rose, he failed to prove that he belonged in the same ring with him.

Andrade destroys Rose

andrade66By Scott Gilfoid: In an embarrassingly one-sided fight from start to finish, WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KO’s) totally dominated the over-matched #1 WBO challenger Brian Rose (25-2-1, 7 KO’s) in stopping him in the 7th round on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

As I predicted earlier, Rose had no business being in the ring with Andrade tonight. As good as Andrade looked tonight, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he could have beaten Carl Froch and George Groves with the way he was fighting. Andrade was incredible tonight. The talent that he showed in nailing Rose at will with straight lefts. We saw a coming out party for a young star tonight. Andrade looked good enough to give Floyd Mayweather Jr, Erislandy Lara and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez all they could handle.

Andrade-Rose: Levels of expectation

andrade7(Photo credit: Ed Mulholland/HBO) By Daniel Hughes: Brian Rose (27-1-1, 7 KO’s) has a really tough ask ahead of him to claim the WBO light-middleweight title tonight from Demetrius Andrade (20-0, 13 KO’s) at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York. Boxing is about levels and this is a real step up away from home for the Blackpool fighter from the UK.

Andrade is the decorated amateur, who won the world amateur championships in 2007 at welterweight. Andrade’s career as a pro has proved to be a smooth ride generally baring the knockdown he suffered in the 1st round against Vanes Martirosyan in his last fight.
