Marquez looking to face Bradley in rematch in 2014

marquez787By Chris Williams: A rematch between Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) and WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) is in the works for 2014, according to Marquez’s adviser Fernando Beltran. Marquez lost a 12 round split decision to Bradley last month in Las Vegas, Nevada in a fight where Bradley used constant movement to keep from getting hit by the 40-year-old Marquez.

Bradley is expected to be Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent for April of 2014, so it’s difficult to tell how a loss for Bradley would impact a potential Marquez rematch. It could be that Marquez will lose interest in facing Bradley if Pacquiao defeats him because his record will no longer be unbeaten and there won’t be as much praise for Marquez if he beats him after that.

Bradley-Marquez did 375,000 PPV buys

bradley77 - CopyBy Dan Ambrose: Last months fight between WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) and Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) reportedly brought in 375,000 pay-per-view buys on HBO, accordding to Kevin Iole of Yahoo.com. The break even point was at 350,000 buys, so the fight actually made a small profit for Top Rank. It was a risky gamble to make a fight like this a PPV bout because neither guy has ever established that they headline a fight and bring in huge numbers without Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. facing one of them.

Bradley’s manager Cameron Dunkin told Yahoo “I’m very, very happy with that. Going in, I thought it would do 250, maybe 300. Those wouldn’t have been bad numbers, either. But this is a very solid number.”

Marquez only interested in Bradley rematch

marquez#1By Sean McDaniel: 40-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) says he’s not interested in any other fights but a rematch with WBO welterweight champion Tom Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s), who beat him earlier this month on October 12th by a narrow 12 round split decision in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bradley defeated Marquez by the scores 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.

Marquez says he doesn’t want to fight to continue fighting if he can’t get the rematch against Bradley.

Here’s the catch: If Marquez can get the rematch with Bradley, it has to be in Mexico. Marquez doesn’t want to have another fight between them take place in Las Vegas.

Marquez vs. Bradley: Did the judges get it right?

marquez111By Gerardo Granados: Since I was a young kid, when I saw a title fight on television I heard the boxing analyst say that the contender needed to push the fight and take the risk so he could clearly win on the score cards. If not, when the fight was close the champion would keep his crown. Perhaps the readers also hear it in the past and present days.

The veteran lion king Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) and even his savvy trainer Ignacio Beristain feel the fight judges got it wrong last Saturday night, but it could be due the result of the frustration for not getting the decision.

Timothy Bradley- The Pupil that took the Teacher to School

bradley6By Robbie Bannatyne: Placing the word intelligence in the context of hand to hand combat fighting seems almost like an oxy-moron. But anyone who watched the Timothy Bradley vs Juan Manuel Marquez WBO Welterweight title fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night will appreciate how important a factor ring intellect played in Bradley’s career defining victory against the Mexican legend.

His performance was the polar opposite to his display in his last outing against Russian slugger Ruslan Provodnikov, which ironically endeared him to the boxing public despite it becoming dangerously close to being the death knell for his career. That night Bradley allowed his heart to rule his head and nearly paid the ultimate price as he was close to being knocked out on numerous occasions.

Beristain: Bradley’s an undefeated fighter with 2 losses

marquez787By Dan Ambrose: Nacho Beristain, the trainer for Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s), was on his side last night in feeling that he should have been given the decision against WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) in their fight in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Marquez lost the fight by a 12 round split decision, but the fight could have very well gone the other way because Marquez landed the harder shots in every round of the fight.

Beristain said to the Los Angeles Times “Bradley’s a good fighter, and he’s very lucky. He’s the only undefeated fighter with two losses.”

Bradley thinks he’s top 3 pound-for-pound now

bradley5333By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley’s 12 round split decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) last night in Las Vegas, Nevada has Bradley now thinking he deserves to be in the Ring Magazine’s top 3 pound-for-pound list in replacing Marquez for the #3 spot.

Bradley’s performance last night didn’t look like what you would normally see from a top 3 pound-for-pound fighter due to his lack of power, his focus on mainly defense, and his unwillingness to stay in the pocket against Marquez.

Timothy Bradley deserves shot at Mayweather

bradley#1By Albert Choi: After watching the fight between Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) and Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s), everyone got the see the hard working WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) completely take Marquez out of his game plan by using the jab, good footwork, and being the busier fighter throughout the fight. Going into the fight, many ring experts believed that Marquez was too “smart” and experienced for the younger Bradley, who was also coming off a tough fight over hard hitting Russian Ruslan Provodnikov. However, after 12 rounds, Bradley won a deserved split decision win over the Mexican legend.

Now that Marquez is out of the way, the only logical fight for Bradley would have to be a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. next year in May. Having officially beaten both Marquez and Pacquiao, although Pacquiao was robbed, Bradley should now be considered the next opponent worthy of stepping into the ring against the pound for pound monarch, Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
