Bradley in rebound fight against Provodnikov tomorrow night in Carson, California

provodniko1By Allan Fox: You hate to see this as a comeback/rebound fight for WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s), but that’s the only way you can really see his fight tomorrow night against light welterweight Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KO’s) at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Bradley won a highly controversial 12 round split decision against Manny Pacquiao last year in June in a fight where pretty much the entire world saw Bradley losing convincingly.

Bradley has since done nothing, sitting around and waiting for Pacquiao to give him a rematch that never happened, while at the same time saying no to a rematch against Lamont Peterson that would have given Bradley a big payday of $2.3 million. Bradley won’t make anything close to that tomorrow night against the 140 pound Provodnikov.

Roach: Provodnikov is well prepared for Bradley

provodnikov5By Allan Fox: Trainer Freddie Roach believes that his fighter light welterweight Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KO’s) has dramatically improved since he was beaten by Mauricio Herrera two years ago in a 12 round unanimous decision loss.

Herrera is now the sparring partner for WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s), who Provodnikov will be facing this Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Roach said to RingTV, “I think he [Provodnikov] is a different fighter than the one that lost. We got the best sparring partners we could to emulate Bradley. We spent a lot of money going out and getting the right guys.”

Despite boxing fans seeing this as a mismatch due to Provodnikov’s lack of experience against quality opposition, Bradley feels that Provodnikov is an excellent opponent and he sees him giving him a great fight.

Bradley specifically selected Provodnikov because of the Russian fighters’ tendency to brawl with his opposition.

Bradley said to HBO, “Provodnikov is a tough cookie. He comes to bring the fight.

Arum said to ESPN “Marquez said he’s interested in fighting all of them, but he’ll know who he is interested in more after watching them fight. We never discussed money…all he said was ‘I know I can make more money fighting Pacquiao than against the other guys,’ and that was the extent of the monetary discussions.”

Bradley says he’s found new power for Provodnikov

YouTube video
By Dan Ambrose: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s) has never been thought of as a puncher, and his low percentage of knockouts on his resume shows that out pretty clearly. Bradley says he’s developed his power recently through the use of proper punching technique, and he plans on showing off his new power on March 16th against light welterweight Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KO’s) in their fight at Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Bradley said to Radio Raheem “I think they need to seem some knockouts. I’m not a huge puncher, but I can fight and they need to see me beating up this guy [Provodnikov]. Fans want to see excitement and I’m going to bring the intensity.

Atlas: Bradley is too fast for Provodnikov to deal with

provodnikov5By Allan Fox: ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas thinks WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s) will have too much speed for #2 WBO 140 pound contender Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KO’s) in their fight next month on March 16th at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA. This will be Bradley’s first defense of his World Boxing Organization title, and he’s picked out a guy he thinks he can beat in 29-year-old Provodnikov.

Atlas said on ESPN, “Provodnikov – he’s going come forward, he’s going to try and get in your wheelhouse, he’s going to try and go to your body, but he’s also predictable. He’s also not the hardest guy to find in the world. Provodnikov is right there. I think Bradley is too fast for him. I think Bradley is too versatile for him. If Provodnikov is going to pull off an upset, and it has to be a huge upset, he’s going to have to find a way to impose his physicality, and impose his will on Bradley.
