Wladimir wants Stiverne fight

wladimir32By Allan Fox: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (62-3, 52 KO’s) wants a shot at WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KO’s) in the near future if possible in order to get a chance to win the last major heavyweight title not already in his possession. Wladimir has a fight tentatively scheduled already, though, against his #1 IBF challenger Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11 KO’s) on September 6th at the O2 World, Altona, in Hamburg, Germany. A fight between Wladimir and Stiverne will likely have to wait until 2015, if at all.

Stiverne and his promoter Don King still haven’t said whether they’re interested in taking a unification fight against the 6’6″ Wladimir, and it’s quite possible that they’ll say no to his request for a fight. While it would be a good payday for Stiverne if he were to take that fight, he’d very likely lose his title and then be relegated to contender status once again. Stiverne won’t get as much money for his normal title defenses, but if he holds onto the WBC title for a year or two, he’ll end up making a lot more money in the long run than he’d make in a single unification fight against Wladimir.

Who Will Get The First Shot at Bermane Stiverne’s New WBC Title?

stiverne999999(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) Now that the ice has settled on Saturday night’s farcical heavyweight (so called) world title fight between Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KO’s) and the pathetic Chris Arreola (36-4, 31 KO’s) I am going to discuss how important the future of this WBC heavyweight strap is going to be.

The fight on Saturday night didn’t teach us anything that we didn’t already know before this weekend as the unfit and over weight Stiverne had already easily beaten the slightly less out of shape, Arreola in very similar fashion last year. However under heavy influence from the American Dollar the WBC were urged to make them fight again for the world (American) title even though neither man has ever proved that he can mix it with elite level guys from Europe or the rest of the world. This was most probably a smoke screen anyway as at the same time the average Deontay Wilder was told that he would be the mandatory challenger to the cherry picked winner.

Stiverne destroys Arreola, captures WBC heavyweight title

Stiverne Arreola 003(Photo credit: Tiffany Lam) By Jim Dower: #1 WBC Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KO’s) destroyed #2 WBC Chris Arreola (36-4, 31 KO’s) in the 6th round on Saturday night to capture the vacant WBC heavyweight title at the USC Galen Center, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Stiverne knocked Arreola down twice in the 6th round. The referee Jack Reiss halted the fight with Arreola badly hurt on his feet at 2:00 of the round. The fight was close going into the 6th round, as both guys had fought pretty much on even terms. But in the 6th round, Stiverne caught Arreola with a big right hand to the side of the head that staggered and dropped Arreola on the canvas. After he got to his feet, Arreola was hit with a flurry of heavy head shots that sent sliding down the ropes.

Weights: Arreola 239, Stiverne 239.5

arreola444(Photo credit: Tiffany Lam) By Allan Fox: Heavyweights Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO’s) and Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) weighed in on Friday for their clash tomorrow night at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. Both fighters looked a little flabby which is normal for both guys given their physiques. Arreola weighed in at 239 pounds.

That’s the lowest weight that Arreola has weighed in at since he weighed in at 236 for his 10 round decision win over Friday Ahunanya in July 0f 2011. Arreola looks like he’s worked really hard during training camp, and will possibly do a better job this time than he did in their previous fight in April of last year, a fight which Arreola lost by a 12 round decision.

Stiverne not looking past Arreola fight towards Deontay Wilder

stiverne33(Photo credit: Goosen Tutor) By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBC Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO’s) isn’t looking past his opponent #2 WBC Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) in their second and hopefully their last fight together this Saturday night at the Galen Center, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Stiverne whipped Arreola by a 12 round decision last year in April, but the WBC decided it would be a good idea for them to fight again for the vacant WBC heavyweight title after champion Vitali Klitschko vacated the strap this year.

The winner of the Arreola-Stiverne fight has to fight the WBC mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder (31-0, 31 KO’s) unless they can get the WBC to give them permission to face IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a unification bout, which is a distinct possibility given Wladimir’s interest in capturing that strap.

Arreola vs. Stiverne this Saturday for vacant WBC heavyweight title on ESPN

arreola777By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBC Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO’s) and #2 WBC Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) will be meeting up this Saturday night on ESPN to fight for vacant WBC heavyweight title at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California. This is a rematch of a fight that took place last year in April in which Stiverne easily beat Arreola by a 12 round unanimous decision. Stiverne broke Arreola’s nose, and knocked him down once in the fight to earn the victory.

The only reason that the two heavyweights are battling again is because the WBC decided for some reason to give Arreola another shot, even it doesn’t make any sense at all that the two fighting again. Stiverne easily beat Arreola, and the World Boxing Council should have pushed one of the top contenders such as Deontay Wilder to the No.2 spot to face Stiverne. By not doing this it likely caused the major networks to reject the fight, because the last thing they need is to televise another one-sided heavyweight clash like the Arreola-Stiverne fight.

Arreola says he won’t get complacent against Stiverne in rematch

arreola5(Photo Credit Vincent Vallejo/Goossen Tutor) By Dan Ambrose: Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) blames his previous defeat at the hands of Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO’s) on him getting careless in the fight resulting in him getting his nose broken. Arreola says he’s not going to let down his guard for his rematch against Stiverne in their fight for the vacant WBC heavyweight title on May 10th at the Galen Center, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Arreola realizes he can’t mess up and lose this fight because it may be a while before he gets another crack at a title.

Taking a look at Stiverne’s record

By Bradley Dee: If all goes as planned we have a fight between Chris Arreola (36-3) and Bermane Stiverne (23-1) to look forward to on June 21st in a fight for the vacant WBC heavyweight title in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico, but before that fight happens, has anyone actually stepped back and checked out Bermane Stiverne’s record? I have to say when I did, I was a little amazed. Browsing through his resume you’ll find a list of B, C and D level fighters, but mostly C and D level.

Deal close for Arreola-Stiverne II

arreola888By Mike S: Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola and Bermaine Stiverne are close to locking horns again in Villahermosa, Mexico this June in a fight that will be reportedly be aired by HBO in the States. Stiverne won the first meeting by a wide UD after smashing Arreola’s nose and dropping him in the third round. Arreola was in flabby condition AGAIN, and seemed to just sit back and wait for something to happen. It never did.

Since then Arreola has made a commitment to his conditioning and body weight and looked much better in his first round TKO of the glass chinned Seth Mitchell last September.  Stiverne, strung along by Vitali Klitschko and the WBC will have been out of the ring for well over a year bay the time this rematch comes around. While it is normally not wise to remain inactive for that long, there is a pretty obvious reason why Stiverne chose not to risk his no.1 ranking while in wait.
