By Scott Gilfoid: Promoter Eddie Hearn says a rematch between heavyweights Tony Bellew and David Haye is a possibility in 2017. Bellew has other options besides a rematch with Haye. There’s Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Joseph Parker. It’s quite possible that Haye would be the last resort for Bellew if he can’t get a big money fight against Parker, Fury or Wilder.

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) will be sidelined for a while after rupturing his right Achilles tendon in his 11th round TKO loss to Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, England. Haye’s right ankle injury was repaired following a 2 ½ hour surgery.

Hindsight will be Haye’s unyielding Tormentor

By Rishad Marquardt: David Haye won over admiration from large sections of the boxing community including from both fighters and fans on March 4th, 2017, in his shocking and sensational war with Tony Bellew. This admiration has previously been largely limited to Haye’s boxing ability and his athleticism, but was never really directed at his bravery or character. Many saw Haye as a fighter who pulled-out of and set-back key fights, as someone who didn’t take responsibility when results didn’t go his way, and was often too cocky.

Haye won’t retire, wants Bellew rematch

Image: Haye won’t retire, wants Bellew rematch

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye has had surgery to repair his torn right Achilles tendon from his loss to Tony Bellew last Saturday night in London, UK. Haye is not going to retire, as he wants a rematch with Bellew and he still has a goal of winning another heavyweight world title before he hands up his gloves.

Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) blew out his right Achilles in the 6th round last Saturday night after dominating the first 5 rounds. Haye appeared to be up 5 rounds to 0 at the time of the freak injury in round 6. Once Haye suffered the injury, Bellew was able to come on and eventually stop him in round 11.

Big Time Bellew

By The Commissioner: So Thursday just gone I wrote a piece on the upcoming Haye v Bellew match up, giving my thoughts, analysis and opinion. Before we go any further, I would like to pat myself on the back for bucking the trend and warning of the dangers of writing off Tony Bellew.

I can’t gloat too much though, I did think Haye would eventually prove too much for ‘The Bomber’ Bellew to handle although I did state that the fight would be decided by whether or not Bellew could take David Haye into the later rounds. This he did. And in my opinion he did it very well.

Bellew broke right hand in Haye fight

Image: Bellew broke right hand in Haye fight

By Scott Gilfoid: Tony Bellew says he broke his right hand early in his win over David Haye last Saturday night. The injury didn’t prevent the 34-year-old Bellew from using his right hand the entire contest, so it’s unclear how bad the injury is. Bellew stopped Haye after knocking him down in the 11th round.

Haye’s trainer Shane McGuigan pulled the plug on the fight by throwing in the towel. He obviously knew at that point that Haye was too injured for him to be able to knockout Bellew. Goodness knows, Haye was trying hard to stop Bellew, but he couldn’t set his feet properly to get the power he needed on his fight.

Haye vs. Bellew fight review

Image: Haye vs. Bellew fight review

By Aaron Mellon: When the David Haye vs. Tony Bellew fight was announced, I was of the opinion Haye would annihilate Bellew. Bellew appeared to be outgunned in every department: Power, Speed, Strength, Experience and Athleticism. Even after last night, I still believe all of the above are true. Bellew ended up winning the fight by an 11th round TKO to pull off a big upset at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Haye seemed to believe all of the above as well. From the opening bell, Haye was swinging wildly and missing by some margin. Possibly an indication of Haye’s confidence, disregard for Bellew as a fighter and to a large degree, ring rust.

Hearn hopes to match Bellew against Wilder or Parker

Image: Hearn hopes to match Bellew against Wilder or Parker

By Scott Gilfoid: Promoter Eddie Hearn is interested in putting his fighter Tony Bellew in world title fight next following his 11th round stoppage win over an injured David Haye last Saturday night. Bellew beat Haye after he suffered an Achilles injury to his right leg. Haye limped around the ring from rounds 6 until 11, when he was stopped.

Rather than waiting for Haye to heal and putting Bellew back in with him to prove that he can beat a healthy Haye, Hearn wants to match Bellew against one of the heavyweight world champions. Hearn says he’d like to match Bellew against either WBC champion Deontay Wilder or WBO champ Joseph Parker. Hearn feels confident that he’ll be able to get one of those two to agree to the fight.

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye has reportedly been released from a hospital in London for treatment for his injured right Achilles that he hurt last Saturday night in his 11th round TKO loss to Tony Bellew at the O2 Arena in London, England. Haye suffered a complete tear of his right Achilles tendon. The injury has been repaired after surgery. It could take Haye as long as six months to come back from his Achilles injury. In theory, Haye could be back inside the ring before the end of the year. Whether a rematch against Bellew can take place at that time is anyone’s guess.

‘Heart of a Lion’ Haye Hands Hollow Victory to Bellew

YouTube video

By Rob Blakeman: From the beginning of round one of last night’s all English Heavyweight clash it was clear who the real athlete was in this fight as an impatient David Haye stalked menacingly around the ring after over achiever and Cruiser weight ‘Champeen’ Tony Bellew. The Liverpudlian’s nerves held up well and he tried to exchange punches with the much faster Haye while staying tucked up and away from trouble.
