By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten light welterweight contender Antonio Orozco (26-0, 17 KOs) kept his perfect record intact on Saturday night in stopping unbeaten KeAndre Gibson (16-1-1, 7 KOs) in the 4th round in a scheduled 10 round fight at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada. Orozco, 29, dropped Gibson with a right to the head in the 4th. The fight was then halted after Gibson failed to get back to his feet. The official time of the stoppage was at 1:31 of the round.

Humberto Soto robbed in loss to Antonio Orozco

OrozcoSosa_Hoganphotos(Photo credit: Tom Hogan/Golden Boy Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: In a horrible robbery last Saturday night, former WBC lightweight champion Humberto Soto (65-9-2, 35 KOs) found himself on the receiving end of a good old fashioned controversial 10 round unanimous decision loss to a powerful but very, very limited Antonio Orozco (23-0, 15 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Soto, 35, did a great job of exposing Orozco in that fight as a limited fighter. Orozco may have won the fight, but he lost the battle, as he was exposed and many of the boxing fans at home and at the Stubhub didn’t agree with the decision the judges handed down.

Benavidez stops Paez Jr; Orozco defeats Taylor

By Dan Ambrose: Fresh off his very controversial 12 round decision win over Mauricio Herrera last December, the Top Rank promoted interim WBA light welterweight champion Jose Benavidez Jr. (23-0, 16 KOs) stayed unbeaten with a relatively easy 12th round knockout win over the smaller 5’7” Jorge Piaz Jr. (38-6-2, 23 KOs) on Friday night at the US Airway Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
