By Matt Stein: Fresh off his 6th round knockout victory over 39-year-old Carlos Baldomir on Saturday night, 20-year-old unbeaten welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) will reportedly be back in the ring quickly, as his promotional company Golden Boy Promotions wants Alvarez to fight on December 4th in Mexico against a still to be determined opponent. GBP also signed Alvarez to a multi-year contract today, which may or may not be a smart thing because we still don’t know whether Alvarez will be a future star or not.

By Chris Williams: Welterweight contender Matthew Hatton (38-4-2, 15 KO’s) says he’s up for the challenge of facing fellow welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (30-0-1, 22 KO’s) on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley undercard on May 1st. In an interview at Blandhatton, Matthew Hatton says “It’s [the Saul Alvarez bout] definitely a fight that I’m interested in. Robert Diaz with Golden Boy Promotions spoke to me last week sometime mentioning a possible fight with Saul Alvarez. I’m always up for a challenge to fight on the Mosley-Mayweather boxing card.
