By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said that his unbeaten fighter WBC Silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) and undefeated WBC Silver junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KO’s) will never fight because Chavez Jr. is “too big” for Alvarez to fight. This seems kind of silly given that the 6-foot Chavez Jr. just went life and death with the light hitting 5’9″ Billy Lyell last weekend.
Alvarez vs. Hatton
Matthew Hatton picked the wrong time and wrong man to fight: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez
By Francisco Hernandez: If you have never seen a fellow get inhumanely whipped in an alley fight, then brace yourself because Saul Alvarez is about to perpetrate an atrocity when he brutalizes brave Mathew Hatton in their upcoming fight this March 5, 2011. Hatton has picked the wrong time and the wrong man to fight: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Alvarez-Hatton: Look for a brutal knockout win for Saul
By William Mackay: On March 5th, EBU welterweight champion Matthew Hatton 41-4-2, 16 KO’s) steps up against what is easily the biggest puncher he’s faced in his entire career when he takes on Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KO’s) at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. Hatton may have faced better fighters in terms of boxing skills, like Craig Watson, for instance, but Alvarez is a much more powerful than him by far. With Alvarez, he doesn’t need great boxing skills for him to win.
Hatton-Alvarez: Magic Matthew is a refreshing reminder of boxings glory days
By Shaun Campbell: Current European champion Matthew Hatton (42-4-1 16KO’s) has been getting a fair bit of undeserved criticism for his upcoming bout against undefeated Mexico’s Golden Boy, Saul Alvarez (35-0-1 26KO’s). Many people are saying this is a mismatch, with Hatton out of his depth, saying that Alvarez will be too good and too strong.
Alvarez-Hatton: How many rounds will Matthew last before getting brutally knocked out?
By Scott Gilfoid:: The WBA has for some reason given EBU welterweight champion Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KO’s) a ranking of number #6 in the welterweight rankings. This gives the number #4 ranked Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KO’s) an excuse to fight Hatton and, of course, destroy him on March 5th at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. This is going to be one of the worse slaughters in memory.
Daniel Jacobs to fight on Alvarez-Hatton undercard on 3/5
By Jim Dower: Middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (21-1, 18 KO’s) will be returning to action for the second time since being destroyed by Dmitriy Pirog when he fights on the undercard of the Saul Alvarez vs. Matthew Hatton card on March 5th at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. No opponent has been picked out as of yet for the 23-year-old Jacobs, but given how badly he was schooled by Pirog, you would have to imagine that it won’t be anyone dangerous or any kind of threat to Jacobs.
Kirkland could be fighting on Alvarez-Hatton undercard on 3/5
By Dan Ambrose: Former junior middleweight contender James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KO’s) is looking to get back in action on March 5th on the undercard of the fight between Saul Alvarez and Matthew Hatton. Kirkland, 26, was recently released from a Texas prison where he had been held for a weapons violation from April 2009 until recently.
Why doesn’t Saul Alvarez fight Erislandy Lara
By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten highly ranked welterweight/junior middleweight Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KO’s) is looking to fight the terribly flawed and mediocre Matthew Hatton on March 5th in what will likely be an easy fight for Alvarez. What I what to know is why doesn’t Alvarez take on a much better fighter than Hatton like unbeaten former Cuban amateur star Erislandy Lara (15-0, 10 KO’s) instead?
Will Saul Alvarez destroy Matthew Hatton on December 4th?
By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) is being linked with a December 4th fight against European Boxing Union (EBU) welterweight champion Matthew Hatton (40-4-2, 15 KO’s), according to the latest boxing news. Alvarez, 20, defeated former welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir last Saturday night by a 6th round knockout and now his promoters Golden Boy Promotions want to see Alvarez back in the ring before the end of the year.
Saul Alvarez could be facing Matthew Hatton on December 4th
By Matt Stein: Undefeated welterweight contender Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KO’s) may have another easy mark for his next fight. According to the Record, the 20-year-old Alvarez will be facing European Boxing Union (EBU) welterweight champion Matthew Hatton (40-4-2, 15 KO’s) on December 4th, in Cancun, Mexico. Given how wide open Alvarez looked on defense in his last fight with 39-year-old Carlos Baldomir last weekend, I had a feeling that his promoter, Golden Promotions, would continue to match Alvarez soft to keep him from getting beaten.
