wladimir123 By Scott Gilfoid: In what has to be construed as bad news for unbeaten #1 WBO contender Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs), his promoters at Hennessy Sports came to an agreement with K2 Promotions today, the promoters for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) for a fight that will be taking place a little over three months from now on October 24th in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The agreement between K2 Promotions and Hennessey Sports means the purse bid that was scheduled for Monday has now been canceled. This doesn’t work out well for the 26-year-old Fury because if it had gone to a purse bid, there was a chance that one of the British promoters like Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Sport would have won the bid, and then scheduled the fight to take place in the UK.

By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says he may fly to Panama to make a purse bid for the title fight between IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury if the two fighters are unable to negotiate the fight.

They have until Monday to come to an agreement. If not, then it’ll go to a purse bid where the highest bidder can put on the fight. Hearn doesn’t promoter either fighter, but he’d like to stage it in the UK, where it would be a huge fight. Hearn would be doing Fury a big favor if he won the purse bid and then stuck the fight at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Haye, 34, hasn’t fought in over four years since being Dereck Chisora in 2012, and he’s talked recently of being interested in fighting the 6’7” Wilder. Haye hasn’t said when precisely he’d be looking to actually fight, but he’s definitely expressed interest in facing Wilder.

Haye ultimately sees Fury instead going in another direction by facing another opponent rather than stepping good in the ring against a guy he can’t beat. Haye feels that Fury hasn’t been fighting guys that actually hit back, and he’s not fought someone as big as the 6’6” Wladimir.

That’s what former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis believes. He thinks that Fury has faced no one during his brief seven-year pro career that is remotely as big or as talented as what he’ll be seeing in the ring when he faces the 6’6”, hard-punching Wladimir later this year.

Klitschko, 39, says he’s open to fighting in England, but it’s a fight that could also take place somewhere else in Europe.

One would have to assume that Wladimir will elect to stage the fight in Germany where he has a huge fan base and is capable of selling out stadiums over there.
Wladimir is looking very vulnerable nowadays after his poor performance against American Bryant Jennings last April.

Johnson, 35, has been sparring with unbeaten British heavyweight Tyson Fury to get ready for this fight, according to Sky Sports commentator Johnny Nelson. It’s unclear how much sparring that Johnson did with Fury, but it doesn’t matter.

If the Klitschko-Fury fight is staged in the UK, they can make big money by filling it with fans. A venue like Wembley Stadium in London would be ideal. However, for Hennessy to get his way in getting the 39-year-old Klitschko to travel to the UK, he’ll need to win the purse bid to make that happen.

The 26-year-old Fury could get his shot at Klitschko later this year unless Klitschko retires or vacates his WBO title. Fury is the WBO mandatory challenger for Wladimir after he beat Dereck Chisora by a 10th round stoppage in November 2014.
