By Jim Dower: Sakio Bika (29-5-2, 20 KO’s) will be facing super middleweight contender Dyah Davis (21-2-1, 9 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on June 2nd. This should be a really good test for the 30-year-old Davis, because he’s recently put together some good wins over Osumanu Adama, Marcus Johnson, Darnell Boone and Alfonso Lopez.
Sakio Bika
The Gatekeeper should hold the key to the title
By Darren Munsey: One of the biggest talking points in boxing is the question ‘’is this boxer world class’’? We discuss, we debate but at the end of the day we do not know for sure until the fighter participates in a world title fight. The problem with that is just because a boxer fights for a world title that is far from conclusive evidence that the prospect is truly world class. With the amount of different versions or world title and the massive influence promoters have in the sport getting a world title shot is easier than ever.
Fillingham’s View – Andre Ward vs. Sakio Bika
By Adam Fillingham: Last Saturday former world title challenger Sakio Bika took on WBA world super middleweight champion Andre Ward. The Australian Bika gave Ward the hardest fight since he won his world strap one year ago.
Ward suffers injury in win over Bika, fight with Abraham could be delayed
By Jason Kim: World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight champion Andre Ward (23-0, 13 KO’s) suffered an injury to his left index finger in his 12 round unanimous decision over Sakio Bika (28-5-2, 19 KO’s) last Saturday night at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California, according to fightnews.com. The injury may delay Ward’s next Super Six tournament fight against Arthur Abraham next year in March 2011. The fight still doesn’t have a venue, but Ward would like for it to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ward beats Bika at his own game, next up Abraham
By Dan Ambrose: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (23-0, 13 KO’s) kept his perfect record intact while at the same time successfully defending his World Boxing Association title against fill in opponent 31-year-old Sakio Bika (28-5-2, 19 KO’s), defeating him by a 12 round unanimous decision at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. The final judges’ scores were 120-108, 118-110 and 118-110. I scored it 116-114. This was a replacement opponent for Ward to fill in for the loss of his Super Six tourney opponent Andre Dirrell.
Andre Ward in Pointless yet Scrappy Bout
Ward will show his versatility tonight in destroying Bika
By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten WBA super middleweight talent Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s) will show off his stuff against aging 31-year-old contender Sakio Bika (28-4-2, 19 KO’s) at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. This bout matches Ward – an outstanding inside and outside fighter – against Bika, who only has the ability to fight on the inside where he has a nasty tendency to rough up his opponents and foul.
Weights: Ward 168 pounds, Bika 168
By Eric Thomas: Undefeated World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight champion Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s) weighed in at 168 pounds at today’s weight for his bout on Saturday night against veteran Sakio Bika (28-4-2, 19 KO’s) at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. Bika, 31, weighed in right on the super middleweight limit at 168 as well. The fight will be aired on Showtime and will be part of a split site doubleheader with Carl Froch vs. Arthur Abraham being the other fight that will be shown.
Bika plans on pressuring Ward on Saturday night
By Dan Ambrose: Challenger Sakio Bika (28-4-2, 19 KO’s) plans on putting a lot of pressure on WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s) in their non-Super Six tournament fight at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. Bika’s only chance is to really go after Ward and try to pressure him with shots. Bika doesn’t have the hand speed or the boxing skills to beat Ward from the outside. Bika is a sitting duck if Ward is able to keep the fight on the outside. Bika doesn’t have the speed to handle him if he’s allowed to pot shot from the distance.
Bika vs. Ward: Look for Andre to stop Sakio
By Scott Gilfoid: On Saturday night, the best fighter in the super middleweight division, WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s), will show the boxing world why he’s considered by many to be the best in the division by schooling and then stopping 31-year-old Sakio Bika (28-4-2, 19 KO’s) in front of what will likely be a sold out Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. The Ward-Bika fight will be a part of Showtime’s split doubleheader shown on Saturday night with Carl Froch vs. Arthur Abraham going at it in the other bout on the night. This will give viewers a chance to see how much better Ward is compared Froch and Abraham. It should be quite a difference in talent.
