The WBC ordered the rematch between Gonzalez and Rungvisai, as there were a lot of complaints from the boxing fans, who felt that the decision should have gone the other way.

Gonzalez’s opponent is expected to be WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Negotiations for a rematch between Gonzalez and Rungvisai are still underway. If the two sides are unable to agree in the negotiations, then Gonzalez will fight someone else in September.

By Jeff Aranow: Following a request by K2 Promotions, the World Boxing Council has given the green light to a rematch between newly crowned WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (43-4-1, 39 KOs) and former WBC champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-1, 38 KOs) by ordering a rematch between them. Gonzalez lost a disputed 12 round majority decision to Rungvisai on March 18 last month at Madison Square Garden in New York. The judges scored the fight 114-112, 114-112, and 113-113. the 29-year-old Gonzalez was knocked down by a right hand to the body in round 1. It was a flash knockdown. In round 6, Rungvisai lost a point for a head-butt.

By Chris Williams: HBO Boxing will be televising the replay of the Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs and Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Rungvisai tonight. The card will begin at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. This is the replay of last Saturday’s fight card on HBO pay-per-view, which saw Golovkin edge Jacobs by a 12 round unanimous decision, and Rungvisai send the previously undefeated “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-1, 38 KOs) down to defeat by a 12 round majority decision. Both fights were controversial unfortunately.
