By Scott Gilfoid: Bob Shannon, the trainer for Ricky Hatton, said that Hatton kind of lost it a little after getting hit with a big right hand shot from former WBA World welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) in the 4th round. From there on, Hatton was only looking to try and get back at Senchenko and wasn’t following the game plan that Shannon wanted Hatton to follow, which was to use head movement and box his way in close instead of just barreling forward with little thought of defense.

Shannon said to thesun.co.uk “Ricky was doing really well until he was caught by a big right in the fourth round. He was annoyed with himself and couldn’t shrug it off…I lost control of him. His attitude was ‘you hurt me, I’ll hurt you back.'”

By Scott Gilfoid: Ricky Hatton probably should have had some patience before he started flapping his gums about retirement immediately after his loss to Vyacheslav Senchenko last Saturday night because I’m betting right now that Hatton is already having second thoughts about his decision after having seen the fight and thought about it. Hatton’s British fans don’t have to shed a tear for him, because he’ll be back. I feel it in my bones. When fighters saying their retiring nowadays it frequently means little more then they’ve decided to take a short vacation from the sport.

I don’t for a second believe that Hatton is going to stay retired. Sure, he looked bad in losing the fight, but honestly he didn’t look that much different from his previous fights in his career. The only difference I saw was the lack of wrestling, his accuracy being off, as well as his stamina.

By Rusty Nate: Having returned from my trip to Manchester to watch the comeback and final fight of Ricky Hatton’s career I find myself once again reading bias and borderline prejudice articles (once again written by the same person).

I don’t normally allow emotion to come into my articles so on this instance I will just say one thing. Don’t even bother reading these junk articles from a so called professional writer that is more interested in bashing the fighters personally than embracing the beauty of the sport. The more attention paid the more the articles will appear.

By Scott Gilfoid: Bob Shannon, the trainer for Ricky Hatton, says he had problems trying to communicate with Hatton last Saturday night during his fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko in front of 20,000 fans at the Manchester Arena, in Manchester, England.

Shannon told itv.com “He [Hatton] couldn’t give me eye contact in the ring and the noise was that bad when I was trying to get him to work his jab…He lost his concentration probably after the 4th round and was getting caught.”

By Scott Gilfoid: I got to say that Ricky Hatton’s comeback was one of the most poorly orchestrated comebacks I’ve ever seen before. It was no surprise to me in the least that he got stopped against Vyacheslav Senchenko yesterday in Manchester because Hatton set himself up for it by making a ton of blunders. Hatton was in such a rush to fight for a world title that he cut corners in a number of critical areas that led ultimately to his defeat.

The fight was pretty much lost even before Hatton stepped into the ring because he put himself in a deep, deep hole to begin with by not fighting a series of tune-up bouts before stepping it up against a world class contender like Senchenko.

By John F. McKenna (McJack): As happens so many times when a fighter retires former lightweight and welterweight champion Ricky Hatton (45-3, 32 KO’s) had to test the waters one more time. Hopefully after Saturday nights 9th round KO at the hands of Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) Hatton will retire and stay retired.

By his own admission the much loved British warrior wanted to see if he still had what it takes to perform at a high level. After the fight Hatton ruefully acknowledged that he had come up short and had the answers he needed to determine his future with regard to his boxing career.

By Scott Gilfoid: One interesting part about last Saturday’s 9th round knockout loss for Ricky Hatton (45-3, 32 KO’s) against Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) in Manchester was that Hatton thought he was ahead by a whopping four rounds at the time he was stopped by a body shot in the 9th.

I don’t know how Hatton could have thought he was ahead by so many rounds because that would mean that Senchenko had won only 2 rounds, and I don’t see how Hatton could have thought that when he was taking punishment from the 6th round. Those rounds weren’t even close in my opinion because Hatton was walking into shot after shot. And in the first five rounds, you got to give Senchenko at least one of those rounds.

By William Mackay: Former two division world champion Ricky Hatton (45-3, 32 KO’s) summed up perfectly what his problem was in losing tonight to Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) by saying “It’s not there anymore.” Hatton is talking his deteriorated skills after his 9th round knockout loss. Hatton was hit with a left to the body and he couldn’t get back tonight in his comeback fight at the Manchester Arena, in Manchester, England.

Hatton said after the fight at the post-fight press conference “It’s not there anymore. Too many hard fights, burning the candle at both ends, I lost 4 1/2 stones preparing for this fight. I’m not going to put myself through that torture again. I had to find out if I could mix it at the world level, but I can’t.”

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it didn’t take Ricky Hatton (45-3, 32 KO’s) very long to think about retirement after being stopped in the 9th round tonight by a beautiful picturesque left hook to the midsection by Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) in Manchester.

Hatton had said after the fight that he was going to think about whether to retire or not because he didn’t want to make any “Hasty decisions.” It looks like Hatton didn’t have to think too hard because Sky Sports News is reporting that Hatton just announced his retirement from boxing.

By Adam Mccoy: Ricky Hatton returned to the ring tonight and suffered defeat at the hands of Vyacheslav Senchenko. You have to give credit where credits due, Senchenko fought smart and occasionally stood toe to toe with Hatton. Hatton was stopped in the 9th by a crippling left hand body shot which totally took his breath away. The result was such a shame but was the night in general?

Hatton stated tonight was about beating his demons and he doesn’t just mean his last fight. Ricky has admitted to depression, feeling suicidal, drugs and endless amounts of alcohol. Ricky’s weight plummeted and he thought he was a failure as a father. Well tonight Hatton not only made his kids and wife proud he made the whole of the UK proud. Hopefully he will know hang up his gloves. He hasn’t lost anything what so ever tonight. He didn’t take the tune up fight people expected he picked up where he left off and went for a top fighter.
