2014 USA Boxing National Championships results

(SPOKANE, WASH.) – 2014 USA Boxing National Championships action concluded with 20 final round bouts in both men’s and women’s action on Saturday at the Pend Oreille Pavilion at the Northern Quest Resort and Casino on Saturday. The day’s competition featured several rematches and action-packed contests in the 20 final round bouts.

Olympic bronze medalist Marlen Esparza (Houston, Texas) broke her own record for USA Boxing National Championships success, winning her eighth USA Boxing National Championships title. Esparza faced off with Virginia Fuchs (Kemah, Texas) in a rematch of the 2013 flyweight final. The bout was a battle for Houston supremacy and Esparza put her foot on the gas in the third meeting between the two. She gave Fuchs a standing eight count midway through the bout en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Pacquiao-Bradley 2 to take place on 4/12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada

Bob Arum and Todd duBoef, CEO and President of Top Rank, respectively, and Michael Koncz of MP Promotions are pleased to announce that an agreement was reached today for undefeated two-division world champion TIMOTHY “Desert Storm” BRADLEY to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Fighter of the Decade Congressman MANNY “Pacman” PACQUIAO. Promoted by Top Rank®, in association with MP Promotions and Tecate, Pacquiao-Bradley 2 will take place, Saturday, April 12, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. It will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View.

Both fighters and their teams will embark on a U.S. media tour the week of February 3, including press conferences in Los Angeles and New York on Tuesday, February 4 and Thursday, February 6, respectively. Groves turns down rematch offer from Froch

Carl Froch has been ordered to give domestic rival George Groves a rematch within 90 days or be stripped of his world title by the International Boxing Federation.

Froch claimed on Friday that Groves rejected “a seven-figure sum” for a second chance after their controversial fight in November, which the champion won with a contentious ninth-round stoppage to keep his WBA and IBF belts.

Groves admits he has turned down an offer but is adamant he is as eager as ever to get back into the ring with Froch, and his cause has been helped after the IBF decided the bout was controversial enough to merit an immediate rematch.
