The knockout, Golovkin’s sixteenth in a row and tenth world title defense improved Golovkin’s record to 29-0 (26KO’s) and boosted his knockout ratio to 89.66, the highest among the active world champions and the highest in the history of boxing’s glamor division. With the loss Adama fell to 22-4 (16KO’s).

The orthodox-style super welterweight was recently ranked as the #1 contender in most of the world sanctioning organizations. He formerly held the NABF Super Welterweight and NABO Junior Middleweight titles.
Because of an injury forcing Jonathan Gonzalez to withdraw, tough veteran Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia (33-3, 22 KOs) of Weslaco, Texas, via Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, will step in to face Monterrey, Mexico’s Norberto “Demonio” Gonzalez (20-2, 13 KOs) in the Friday Night Fights-televised 10-round middleweight main event on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.
33-year-old Garcia makes a worthy substitute opponent to say the least, as he has lost just one fight in the last decade and that to legendary champion Antonio Margarito.

The eight-round super featherweight bout will air beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT followed by the 10-round super welterweight co-featured bout between unbeaten prospects Eddie “E-Boy” Gomez and Daquan “King” Arnett.
