Peter Quillin v Gaberial Rosado: WBO Middleweight Title

quillin52By Sevak Sarkisian: On October 26th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City NJ, Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (29-0 21 KO’s) will defend his WBO middleweight title against contender Gabe “The King” Rosado (21-6 13 KO’s). The bout will be televised live on Showtime and will be part of the Hopkins/Murat undercard.

In my humble opinion, this match-up has great potential to steal the show on this card. Even though Quillin is the defending WBO middleweight world champion, Gabe Rosado looks to be his stiffest test to date. Rosado has suffered his share of losses but he holds quality wins over Kassim Ouma, Shechew Powell and Saul Roman. Rosado’s first fight at middleweight took place almost a year ago against reigning WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

Peter Quillin talks about life at the top of the middleweight division

quillin33 (2)By Ian Aldous: Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin (29-0) is scheduled to defend his WBO world middleweight championship for the second time when he faces Gabriel Rosado (21-6) on October 26th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City live on Showtime in the U.S. In a division that’s currently inhabited by Sergio Martinez and Gennady Golovkin, Quillin faces a stern challenge to earn himself the No.1 spot at 160lbs. Last week he spoke with me inbetween training ahead of the bout with Rosado.

It’s almost a year to the day since I last had the pleasure of talking with ‘Kid Chocolate’ and a lot has changed in that time. The biggest change being that he now owns a portion of the world middleweight crown. On October 20th of last year, he successfully dethroned Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam of his WBO belt over twelve incredibly tough rounds in which he dropped N’Jikam six times en route to a unanimous decision with three 115-107 scorecards from the judges.

Peter Quillin vs. Gabriel Rosado on October 26th in Atlantic City, New Jersey

quillin33By Allan Fox: WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (29-0, 21 KO’s) will be making his 2nd defense of his World Boxing Organization title on October 26th against the non-top 15 ranked Gabriel Rosado (21-6, 13 KO’s) at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. This is a confusing fight because Quillin had the opportunity to face WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in a bigger money fight, but instead he opted to face a guy that Golovkin recently stopped in Rosado.

Quillin made his first defense of his title in beating fringe contender Fernando Guerrero by a 4th round TKO last April in a mismatch. The fight was a mismatch the moment that Quillin signed for it, and it turned out to be even more of a one-sided fight than it figured to be on paper.

Gennady Golovkin this bruiser from Kazakhstan  is on fire his cool calm demeanor is a change of pace, but his talent is undeniable.G3 or as I like to call him Gennady the Destroyer. It’s been a long time since I have seen a man that makes me wanna put on body armor just to watch him fight. In his last contest against Macklin that shot to the liver was so hard I was also curled up like a baby on the floor.

Peter Quillin: Me and Golovkin will be a PPV headliner

golovkin343By Dan Ambrose: WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (29-0, 21 KO’s) says he and IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) will wind up on pay per view with them fighting it out in a unification bout.

Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler is interested in the Golovkin-Quillin fight and he sees it taking place on HBO if Quillin accepts the fight.

Quillin said on his twitter “Me and @GGGboxing [Golovkin] will be a PPV headliner. Trust and believe coming for that other belt until I get em all.”

I think Quillin is dreaming if he thinks a fight against Golovkin would be a PPV bout.

A Look Back On Last Weekend’s Boxing

03(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Shane Newsome: After a highly entertaining week of boxing from a number of counties including three world title fights and a number of our favorite boxers in action, its easy to get lost in the hype and lose track of what is really happening out there so here is your impartial look back on Saturday 27th April 2013 in the world of boxing.

And we start our journey in Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK and the main event Amir Khan (28-3) vs Julio Diaz (40-8-1) here was another night that Bolton’s Amir Khan should have made easy work of a lesser opponent though instead we had ourselves yet another night of hearts beating, on the edge of our seats watching a technically sound offensive boxer holding on for dear life after being caught time and time again through defensive frailties.

Quillin wants unification bout after Guerrero fight

quillin1(Tom Casino/Showtime) By Eric Thomas: WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KO’s) is targeting the other 160 pound champions if he can get past challenger Fernando Guerrero (25-1, 19 KO’s) this Saturday night at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Quillin says he wants WBC champ Sergio Martinez, IBF champ Daniel Geale or WBA champ Gennady Golovkin. Of those three only Golovkin has serious interested in facing Quillin, but it’s highly unlikely that Quillin will say yes to this fight, even though he mentioned him as someone he’d be interested in facing.

Quillin has already had opportunities to fight Golovkin, but has instead looked for safer alternatives. Quillin has sparred with Golovkin in the past and the rumors are that Golovkin handled him pretty easily. It’s just sparring, of course, but when you get totally dominated in sparring it does suggest that there are some skill differences between the two of them.

Quillin vs. Guerrero this Saturday, April 27th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York

NEW YORK (April 21, 2013) – Charismatic world champion prizefighter Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (28-0, 20 KOs) is holding his World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight title belt hostage, as he prepares to make his first defense this Saturday evening (April 27) against challenger Fernando Guerrero (25-1, 19 KOs) on Showtime Championship Boxing, airing live from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Darren Barker: I think I can beat Quillin

barker382By Scott Gilfoid: Darren Barker (24-1, 15 KO’s) hasn’t even gotten past his opponent for this Saturday night in Simone Rotolo (35-3, 15 KO’s), and already he’s looking past him towards WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin, who Barker thinks he can beat. Barker thinks he matches up well with the hard hitting Quillin for some reason, and I can’t see why. What’s sad is Barker is pining away for a fight he can’t even hope to get.

Barker said to thesun.co.uk “We’ve been looking at Quillin, and I’d love to go to the States to fight him. I truly believe I can beat him.”

Well, there are a couple of problems getting in the way of the 30-year-old Barker landing a fight with Quillin. First off, Barker isn’t ranked in the top 15 by any of the alphabet sanctioning bodies in the middleweight division, and there’s no way that Quillin is going to waste a title defense against a 2nd tier fighter.

What does Sergio Martinez and Peter Quillin bring to the table?

martinez452By Robert Elmore: It’s funny when a fighter who isn’t a household name, doesn’t fill arenas every time they fight, doesn’t give his opponent at least a satisfying pay day, tells his opponent that he needs to get all these for a fight to happen when they don’t even have these things themselves. But these are the legs that WBO champion Peter Quillin and WBC champion Sergio Martinez are standing on. Earlier last week Sergio’s promoter told espn.go that Gennady doesn’t bring in a dime.

But what money or crowd does Quillin or Martinez pull in? Let’s start with Martinez.

Simply put, Sergio is trying to cash out before he retires. But as of late is looks like Lou Di Bella is cutting off every options that could probably bring in some good cash? That problem can be solved by unifying the division or move up to the super middleweight division.
