By Jim Dower: Dan Rafael is reporting that the Top Rank pay per view card for December 4th, with Julio Cesar Chavez J. (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) vs. Alfonso Gomez (22-4-2, 11 KO’s) in the main event, is now official. The bout will be taking place at The Pond, in Anaheim, California. The following undercard matches will be shown: Humberto Soto vs. Urbano Antillon, Nonito Donaire vs. Wladimir Sidorenko, Brandon Rios vs. TBA, and Vanes Martirosyan vs. TBA. Ex-Pacquiao trainer thinks Donaire can win 6 world titles before he eventually retires – News

Image: Ex-Pacquiao trainer thinks Donaire can win 6 world titles before he eventually retires - NewsBy Chris Williams: Former Manny Pacquiao trainer Rick Stehely feels that super flyweight Nonito Donaire (24-1, 16 KO’s) can eventually win six world titles in separate weight divisions, according to Ronnie Nathanielsz at Philboxing.com Given that Donaire is 27-years-old now and has only won one title, the International Boxing Federation flyweight belt, I’d say there’s a good chance Donaire won’t even come close to reaching that prediction. Pacquiao has won world titles in seven different weight divisions, which he’s been able to do because of all the numerous weight classes that the sanctioning bodies have created.

Donaire not impressive as a left hander, but still stops Marquez

Image: Donaire not impressive as a left hander, but still stops MarquezBy William Mackay: WBO super flyweight interim champion Nonito Donaire (24-1, 16 KO’s) wasted time tinkering with fighting out of the southpaw stance on Saturday night against the hard-hitting Hernan Marquez (27-2, 20 KO’s) at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Finally, when it became clear that Donaire was barely beating Marquez, he reversed course and reverted back to his orthodox, right hand fighting stance in the 5th round to put the 21-year-old Marquez down. From there it was easy sailing for Donaire, as he was able to dominate until stopping Marquez in the 8th with a left uppercut to the head.

What does a Donaire victory over Marquez prove?

By Jim Dower: The match-up between WBA super flyweight interim champion Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KO’s) and Hernan Marquez (27-1, 20 KO’s) is another in a lone-line of dull fights for Donaire in the past three years of his career. On Saturday night, Doniare, 27, will be likely fighting for the last time at super flyweight when he takes on the seemingly badly over-matched Marquez at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot, San Juan, Puerto Rico. What makes the fight really hard to stomach is that Donaire’s opponent, the 21-year-old Marquez, was totally dominated in his last fight against Richie Mepranum in a 10 round decision loss in March.

Is Donaire another Pacquiao?

by Jason Kim: There has been comparisons between Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KO’s) and Manny Pacquiao for the past year or so, with some boxing fans feeling that Donaire can follow in Pacquiao’s big footsteps while others think that Donaire doesn’t have the toughness, the build or the talent to come even close to what Pacquiao has accomplished thus far.

Donaire vs. Marquez, Lopez vs. Concepcion this Saturday

By Chris Williams: WBA super flyweight interim champion Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KO’s) will be taking on recently defeated Hernan Marquez (27-1, 20 KO’s) in a 12 round bout at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot, San Juan, Puerto Rico. There must be a shortage of fighters to step in the ring with Donaire, because it’s hard to understand why or for what reason Marquez is being given a shot at Donaire’s WBA interim title when he was beaten soundly in his last fight against Richie Mepranum in March.
