By Andrew Muldoon: David Haye scored a points win in Nuremberg on Saturday night to snatch the World Boxing Association strap from the clutches of Nicolai Valuev. After speaking with my most knowledgeable friends and also nosing at the banter on the many boxing forums, I see there is mixed feelings towards what happened in Germany so I’m going to give you my take.

Vitali Klitschko: “I would Knock Haye out” – Boxing News
By Scott Gilfoid: In an article in The Sun, World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko had some sobering news for newly crowned WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, saying “I’ll fight him at any time and knock him out”. Full congratulations to Haye. It was a good performance, a good points win. It was very close. It is a good fight for the future, maybe. I am ready to fight anyone in the world. I am ready to show to everyone I am the strongest in the world.”
Haye defeats Valuev, but stinks up the joint with his running
By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) defeated World Boxing Association heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev (50-2, 34 KO’s) by a 12 round majority decision last night to take Valuev’s WBA title at the Arena Numberger Versicherung, in Nuremberg, Germany. The final judges’ scores were 116-112, 114-114 and 116-112. I had the fight scored a draw. Haye, 29, frankly fought a horrible fight with with his constant running and his low (we’re talking really low) punch output. Seriously, this was one of the worst bouts I’ve ever seen in all my life.
Can Haye beat the Klitschko brothers?
By Dennis Broadhurst: Just to let people know that I do like David Haye and I wish him all the best in his career. Noticing a lot of comments on my last article saying that Haye’s dancing and constant moving techniques were because he was fighting such a larger man made me think, they made me think about the Klitschko brothers.
Boxing Results – David Slays Goliath: Round-By-Round – Haye-Valuev
By Peter Wells: So there was no big knockout, no Haye wearing out down the stretch, just a good, not particularly exciting but a fight that kept you on edge. Despite the doubts Haye out boxed Valuev for 12 rounds straight despite only winning a majority decision. Haye may have fought at a slower pace, but it was the sensible option and he didn’t go rushing in for the knockout. Haye though was so very close to stopping the ‘Russian Giant’ in the last round and wouldn’t that have been a great picture for the front page. I have to give Valuev all respect, he threw more punches than ever before, and was much faster coming forward, but when he had David against the ropes he just didn’t capitalize. The ‘Hayemaker’ won by scores of 116-112 twice and 114-114.
Haye defeats Valuev: Look familiar?
By Dennis Broadhurst: After watching Haye win a twelve round decision last night over Valuev I was hardly inspired. Haye just ran and ran and only hit Valuev about three times every round. Valuev himself showed how bad he is, how little power he has and proved how boring he is. Haye showed good head movement and ring movement but he didn’t follow it up with anything.
Punches That Have Stunned David Haye – How Nikolai Valuev Can Take Advantage
Prediction: Look for Valuev to humiliate Haye
By Scott Gilfoid: On Saturday night, I’m afraid that David Haye and his inflated ego are going to be grounded by the big seven foot Russian WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev when they get it on in Nuremburg, Germany. Haye may have the speed and power advantage in this fight, but he’s two very important ingredients that will prevent him from winning the fight – a good chin and size.
