Mike Tyson knows best….

Image: Mike Tyson knows best....By Rusty Nate: This is not an article to provoke the hard core bloggers or start arguments. Its more of a little write up about the interview i watched and what stood out for me.

I don’t know who watched the Sky Special on Ringside last week (I had to record it and watch it back as I was at an event).

I managed to get round to watching it last night and found my self overly excited at the upcoming Mike Tyson interview at the end of the program.

Heavyweight Boxing: Will it ever rise again?

Image: Heavyweight Boxing: Will it ever rise again?By Tom Drury: The Heavyweight division sadly has been on the decline for many years now. Since the times of Rocky Marciano, Jack Dempsey, Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazer, Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson just to name a few. Today the Heavyweight division is dominated by two brothers based in Germany born in the Ukraine namely Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. The Klitschko brothers are two of the most underrated heavyweights in the history of boxing in my opinion, victims of circumstance and the level of fellow heavyweights in the division.

Many fans have the opinion that the Klitschko brothers are boring and have a robotic fighting style this is not true. I will concentrate on Wladimir as he is the better fighter of the two brothers in my opinion.

Mike Tyson blasts Deontay Wilder and Seth Mitchell

Image: Mike Tyson blasts Deontay Wilder and Seth MitchellBy Mark Calooke: Mike Tyson was once the undisputed king of boxing, the world’s highest paid athlete and the ‘Baddest man on the planet’. He has an opinion that is respected amongst many fans, but he has a habit of stating the obvious.

Tyson has been in England, a country he appears very fond of. Whilst there Iron Mike predictably gave alot of interviews. He reaped praise on Ricky Hatton and his comeback. He told Boxing News magazine “I’m Excited about his comeback. Is Ricky excited? If he is I’m even more excited”. The entire world is either excited or curious. Tyson continued “My main advise to Ricky is don’t go out there trying to prove your tough. When you’re a fighter its very tricky. Ricky Hatton has to know when it’s time to retire. Some people are saying “retire” whilst others are saying “why retire? You’re crazy. The Next thing you know Ricky hits the champion on the chin and is champion again”. I have to agree with Tyson and I think it’s likely to happen.

Mike Tyson doesn’t understand why David Haye doesn’t fight more often

Image: Mike Tyson doesn't understand why David Haye doesn't fight more oftenBy Scott Gilfoid: Mike Tyson is wondering why former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) isn’t busier with his career and fighting a lot with the money he could be making in the ring. Tyson doesn’t see why Haye should retire because he’s still young.
Tyson said to Sky Sports News “David should continue to fight because he’s a young guy…He must have a lot of money. When I fought, I was fighting as often as possible. He should continue to box and get better and better.”

Tyson really wasn’t all that active of fighter. He was up until 1991, and then he started fighting two times a year and it slowly got worse. Haye fought only twice in 2010, once in 2011 and once in 2012. He’s slowed down in the amount of times he fights after tasting the big money. He probably doesn’t see it as throwing millions of dollars away, but that’s pretty much what he’s doing by not fighting at least four times a year.

Tyson: David Haye will be heavyweight champion again

Image: Tyson: David Haye will be heavyweight champion againBy Scott Gilfoid: Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson believes that David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) can recapture one of the world heavyweight titles if he wants to. Tyson thinks the soon to be 32-year-old Haye still has it in him to recapture a belt after having been easily beaten last year by IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in an underwhelming performance by Haye.

Speaking with the Telegraph.co.uk, Tyson said “I think if he [Haye] keeps on fighting and gets more experience he’ll be a heavyweight champ again.”

Tyson referring to Mayweather: Staying undefeated is okay when you’re fighting once a year

Image: Tyson referring to Mayweather: Staying undefeated is okay when you’re fighting once a yearBy Mark Havey: Former undisputed heavyweight champion has been talking alot lately about how thrilled he is about the Ricky Hatton comeback. He advised Hatton “don’t go out to prove how tough you are”. He also said that all Hatton needs is one punch and he is champion again.

The interview was set up to talk about the comeback, but during that interview he said something interesting, something about Floyd Mayweather (43-0, KO’s 26). Telegraph.co.uk quoted Tyson saying “Floyd Mayweather is a great champion. He’s been undefeated for 14 years. But that’s ok if you’re fighting once a year like he does, but if you’re fighting 4 or 5 times a year you get better and better”.

Mike Tyson gets upset when asked about rape conviction

Image: Mike Tyson gets upset when asked about rape convictionBy Chris Williams: Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson appeared to lose his temper during a live television interview with TVNZ’s Breakfast programming on Tuesday when asked about his 1992 rape conviction of a former 18-year-old beauty contestant Desiree Washington.

Tyson, 46, said this as quoted by 3news.co.nz “I didn’t do the crime. I was set up. I don’t care what people say. I didn’t do that f***ing crime.”

The Breakfast program hosts were unable to bleep out Tyson’s F-word and it was heard over live television in New Zealand. There wasn’t a delay of their broadcast, and in hindsight they should have been a little more careful in the questions that were asked of Tyson.

Mayweather Jr’s Defence and Mike Tyson’s Offense

Image: Mayweather Jr’s Defence and Mike Tyson’s OffenseBy Alex Prodromou: All boxing fans think of fantasy match ups, but what about the ultimate fantasy fighter? The true greatest of all time. What skills would they possess? When we do see the undisputed greatest fighter ever, would they have Mayweather Jr’s defence and Mike Tyson’s offense? If that is the case which current boxer has a style similar to this? Your answer is Andre Ward.

He has the quickness, reflexes, smarts and defence that are all in Mayweather’s league. The only reason people don’t see this is because he uses more of a traditional guard as opposed to the Mayweather shoulder roll. However if you look closely, he has used the shoulder roll a few times when trapped on the ropes. He can also fight on the inside like Tyson, but because he doesn’t use the Mayweather guard, he can throw more punches on the inside and gradually wear you down.
