By Dan Ambrose: Bob Arum of Top Rank might want to put his fighter former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 22 KO’s) in a cash out fight as soon as possible so he can cut his losses before Rios goes belly up on him at 140lbs. We just saw Rios completely exposed by Richard Abril last Saturday night, and Abril is nothing compared to the kinds of quality fighters that Rios will be forced to fight if he’s going to be competing in the 140 pound light welterweight division.

Rios decisions Abril; Gesta stops Cuero; Alvarado defeats Herrera
By Jim Dower: Former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 22 KO’s) failed to impress in winning a 12 round split decision on Saturday night at a fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a fight where no one really won, neither Rios, Abril and especially boxing fans due to the controversy surrounding the results of the judges’ decision.
Alvarado-Herrera a better fight than Marquez-Fedchenko and Rios-Abril
By Dan Ambrose: This Saturday night there will be two interesting fights and one good fight on HBO pay-per-view with unbeaten light welterweight Mike Alvarado (32-0, 23 KO’s) facing Mauricio Herrera in the one good fight on the PPV card, and former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios vs. Richard Abril, and Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Sergiy Fedchenko being the two bad fights.

By Jim Dower: Undefeated light welterweight contender Mike Alvarado (32-0, 23 KO’s) will be battling it out with contender Mauricio Herrera (18-1, 7 KO’s) on April 14th in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is one of the better fights that you’ll see because Herrera, 31, has a lot of skills and Alvarado is a huge puncher with an unbeaten record.

Brandon Rios wants Juan Manuel Marquez and Maidana, but he’ll end up facing Mike Alvarado
By Allen Fox: Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22 KO’s) did what he had to do to take out John Murray (31-2, 18 KO’s) in the 11th round last Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden. Rios didn’t look as impressive as he had in previous bouts, but part of the reason for that was he fighting a guy that was an excellent inside fighter in Murray.
Arum moving Brandon Rios up to 140 against Mike Alvarado; no Gamboa
By Allen Fox: After former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22 KOs) failed to make weight last Friday and was stripped of his World Boxing Association title, he had to struggle last night to defeat British fringe contender John Murray 31-1, 18 KO’s) by an 11th round TKO at Madison Square Garden, New York.
