Maidana: Nobody will Save Danny Garcia if we Fight

garcia74By Raj Parmar: Argentinean welterweight slugger Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KO’s) is eager to step inside the ring with Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KO’s) following Garcia’s majority decision win over Lamont Peterson (33-3, 17 KO’s) last night. Garcia is a champion at super lightweight and is considering a move to welterweight in his next fight.

“I don’t care who won tonight but nobody will save Danny if we fight,” Maidana stated on his twitter account following the fight (which many disputed that Peterson had actually won), “I’ll give Danny the real welcome to the Welterweight division. Let’s do it.”

Danny Garcia had doubt in his eyes, he got exposed, says trainer Barry Hunter

garcia677By Dan Ambrose: While WBA /WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs) is busy congratulating himself and saying how he thinks he deserved the decision last Saturday night over IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (33-3-1, 17 KOs), trainer Barry Hunter says that he saw doubt in Garcia’s eyes when the going got tough in the 2nd half of the fight when Peterson began walking Garcia down and battering him with punches.

Hunter feels that Garcia was broken by Peterson mentally or physically in the second half of the fight. From that point on, Garcia was running for safety in pure survival mode and not pushing the fight like he had in the first part of the fight.

Adrien Broner challenges Danny Garcia to a September fight

YouTube video

By Dan Ambrose: Former three division world champion Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) must smell blood in the water after witnessing last night’s catch-weight fight between WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs) and IBF 140 pound champion Lamont Peterson (33-3-1, 17 KOs) on the Premier Boxing Champions on NBC. Broner is now challenging the 27-year-old Garcia for a fight in September if he’s game.

Broner must realize that Garcia is there for the taking because he was never eager to get inside the ring with the Philadelphia native before the Peterson fight.

Garcia beats Peterson – You can’t win a fight running

garcia444By Bill Gabay: The game plan was good and the effort in the later rounds even better, but Lamont Peterson fell short in his match against Danny Garcia tonight on PBC on NBC losing a 12-round majority decision.

A win against the undefeated Garcia would have been impressive as the fighter from Philadelphia is well-coached (by his father-trainer), has great technical skills and possesses power in both hands. Garcia has beaten the likes of Lucas Matthyse, Zab Judah, Amir Khan and Erik Morales (twice).

Purses: Garcia $1.5M, Peterson 1.2M, Lee 500k, Quillin $500k

garcia65By Dan Ambrose: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) will be the highest paid fighter in tonight’s card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The 27-year-old Garcia will be getting $1.5 million for his 143 pound catch-weight fight against IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs).

That’s not bad money for a fight that has failed to catch the public’s imagination. Peterson will be getting $1.2 million. This may be as good as it gets for Peterson unless he can win, and keep moving his fight forward.
